Software

Once you remove the NAS from its package, you can either run the bundled software disc or execute the steps in its quick installation guide, which we will show you below. The software disc also contains a more detailed quick installation guide and the full user's manual. We suggest you take a look at both before configuring or setting the N2310 up. The disc's auto-run menu also includes a link to Thecus's online resources, where various tutorials cover most of the NAS server's functions.

The Intelligent NAS application will find your NAS on the network to provide its IP and MAC address and the firmware version it is running, which allows you to initialize the set-up procedure. We will elaborate on this procedure further down on this page.

The Thecus Backup Utility is included on the aforementioned installation CD. It allows you to create backup tasks that will automate the whole procedure.

Quick Installation Guide

The quick installation guide will prompt you to install the HDD(s), connect the network- and power cables, and type "install.thecus.com" into your browser to begin the installation procedure.

The link we mentioned above will take you to a page where you pick your NAS model and the operating system of the client PC to initiate installation.

Initial Setup

The Thecus Setup Wizard will find your NAS's IP once it is up and running and connected to the network. The next step will ask you to pick a RAID mode and will check whether the disks you installed are empty before starting the initialization process, which will last for about five minutes.

With the initialization process finished, you will be asked to create your Thecus ID. You can also log in if you already have one. Your Thecus ID provides you with a DDNS address. Use your DDNS address to find your NAS's real IP address on the net, which would allows you connect to it remotely.

The System Setup Wizard will guide you through all essential set-up steps.
