A Closer Look

The Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO uses an asymmetrical heatsink design that consists of two fin-stacks. Each stack consists of 55 aluminium fins. To improve memory compatibility the bottom few fins have been shortened. To improve clearance for graphics cards or motherboard heatsinks the cooler is offset to one side. It can be installed in either orientation in order to improve compatibility depending on the situation.

To keep the fins properly spaced the center on each outside edge is folded down. With fan clips hooking the fins in these areas to secure the fans to the heatsink.

A metal top plate keeps the Phantom Spirit 120 EVO looking nice and clean and while there are no fancy ARGB LEDs here or crazy designs, Thermalright proves you don't really need them. Sometimes less is more and in this case the black top plate sticks with the overall visual aesthetic without being over the top. As for the seven heat pipes they, like the fins, have the same black coating, however the base is nickel-plated and looks great, granted some machining marks are visible but only barely so. As for the shape it is convex like the majority of coolers on the market to improve mounting pressure and heat transfer.

When it comes to the fans they both have the same max RPM of 2150. In terms of airflow, the fans are rated to push 69 CFM and have a max static pressure of 2.87 mm H2O.
