Installation

Installing the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO is a simple process. To start you will need to remove the stock AMD motherboard brackets and then install the Thermalright ones. To do this slide the AMD screws through the mounting arms and slide the red spacers on then position the assembly on the board and then tighten the screws into the AMD backplate. Once done, apply thermal paste.

Next position the cooler on CPU lighting up the captive bolts with the brackets and tighten them down. Alternating between the two for even pressure. Then install the fans and wire everything up. Your good to go at this point.

Overall, the mounting hardware is super simple and easy enough to work with. While I do prefer threaded spacers on AMD systems, the Thermalright mounting option still works fairly well. As for the installation on Intel, it is just as easy: simply place the backplate and thread the correct stand-offs onto the backplate screws. At which point you can attach the Intel brackets via the four screws and install the cooler. Overall, no real complaints to speak of.
