A Closer Look
The True Spirit 140 Direct is comprised of forty-eight aluminum fins which are fed heat from the base via five heatpipes. The design is typical for a single-tower cooler.
Compared to the very similar True Spirit 140 BW Rev. A, which this versions is based off, the True Spirit 140 Direct is 4 mm shorter in height due to the H.D.T (heatpipe direct touch) base.
The top plate has a black finish, which looks nice with the Thermalright logo cut out. It adds a bit of flair while remaining classy and neutral in terms of color scheme. The heatpipes are configured in a traditional U-shape and make direct contact with the CPU-integrated heatspreader. The gaps, however, are quite pronounced and will likely take more thermal paste than normal to properly fill.
The 140 mm TY Black fan included by Thermalright has an "Enhanced Hyper-Flow Bearing", which supposedly is a low wear bearing. The fan itself has a 300-1300 PWM RPM range and is rated at 73.5 CFM and 21 dBA when running at full speed.
