Touch Screen

The touch screen is made by Worcol and requires a driver installation. The driver CD contains drivers for everything including Linux and Windows CE. It would have been nice if the panel were detected as USB mouse by default.

This included pen-sized pointing stick is used to "click" on the screen. It has a small tip so you can use it precisely.

The touch screen has to be calibrated once for your display resolution by using this 25 point calibration grid. You hold the pointing pen on each blinking cross one after another. When done the display is calibrated.

Overall the touch screen is very easy to use. It is extremely accurate when used with the pointing device. You can even use it with your fingers for basic operation (girls with long and sharp fingernails should probably pass).

Performance

Videos are played back crystal clear and look very good.

2D desktop fonts are well readable as well. Here is Internet Explorer at a resolution of 1024x768 which is what I would recommend if you are not using a special non-standard resolution.

Please ignore the moiré pattern in the photo. When looking it in person there are no such patterns visible. What you can see on the picture too is that the font is scaled a bit to fit the native resolution of the LCD. The integrated scaler works very well, so font readability is very good.

Even though the picture is excellent, it would have been optimal if the display had a native resolution that is standard in the PC world. Using PowerStrip you can set it to run at its native resolution.

On my X850 these settings allowed me to run the LCD at its native 800x480 resolution without any scaling.
