I was very impressed by the display quality this small LCD display can achieve. Even text at 1024x768 is very well readable. Videos look very vivid and have good colors. Part of this experience can be attributed to the excellent image scaler inside the display. Since the native resolution is not something like 1024x768, the signal from the card has to be adapted to fit the native screen resolution. This is also one weak point, since the resolution is 800x480 it may be hard running the display at its native resolution in Windows for an optimum experience.
The integrated touch-screen works very well, it takes just a few minutes to get used to it. It would have been nice if Thermaltake had thought of a place where the pointing pen could be put when not used, to make sure it doesn't get lost. Drivers for the touchscreen are included for all major operating systems. Using the fingers to press buttons or click list entries works fine as well if you are in a hurry or just want to press the "Play" button.
The included remote control (batteries included) adds just one more remote to your collection. It's infrared based so you can teach its commands to a universal remote. It looks very impressive when the display slides out driven by a motor and brings the LCD into position. A useful addition would have been a "slide out on power on" feature.
One issue I see with this unit is its size. Since it requires a 7" slot to be installed, the only case where it fits is the Thermaltake Mozart TX. With a bit of Dremel modding you should be able to add it to your case - a truly unique addition which will definitely impress your friends.
$299 for this display is a good chunk of money, but if you look at prices of car appliances using touchscreen + 7" LCD it's a very fair price.
