A Closer Look
Other than the faceted pastel LED diffusion bar, the V-Color PRISM II RGB sticks cut a generally rectangular profile. The pastel diffuser comes in seven different colors; my sample kit included a green and an orange stick.
The V-Color PRISM II RGB sticks have a copper alloy heat spreader with a near-mirror silver finish. A large "V" is stamped into the center of each heat spreader.
The V-Color PRISM II RGB sticks come with a micro-fiber cleaning cloth to help protect the silver finish, which is quite the fingerprint magnet. A nice touch preventing a sticker from breaking up the theme, the 3600 MHz XMP timings of 18-22-22-42 at 1.35 V are instead laser cut into the heat spreader of the the V-Color PRISM II RGB.
"V-Color" is laser cut into the bottom-right side of the stick, across from the specifications, with the compliance and origin laser cut into the back.
The V-Color PRISM II RGB are single-sided and use a 10-layer PCB for added stability.
The backside has the controller for the RGB LEDs, of which there are five on each side.
The markings on the ICs seem to be V-Color specific, though Thaiphoon shows that these are Hynix CJR chips. The PCB is made by Brain Power, which is a common supplier.
I like to weigh a stick from each kit I get as the difference in mass can be pretty drastic between kits. Mass is not the best indicator of cooling efficiency because material can matter, and of course, heat dissipation is reliant on surface area, not volume or mass. That said, it is still interesting to compare.
The V-Color PRISM II RGB comes in at 77.04 g on my scale, which is on the high end. The copper alloy heat spreader is heavier than aluminium counterparts. For height, the V-Color PRISM II RGB comes in at just over 42 mm with my calipers, a little below the average 45–50 mm range and great for cooler clearance.
