Introduction

Wooting Logo

Wooting made a spectacular debut in 2017 with the TKL form factor Wooting one mechanical keyboard, which I have to this day. It was and remains a truly innovative product by offering actual analog control on a keyboard with a highly transparent team, good software and customer support, and decent pricing for all that tech. Despite all the manufacturing challenges at the time, the Wooting one turned out to be the gold standard of how to do a crowdfunded product right, and it was even my personal favorite keyboard that year. 2018 saw the full-size Wooting two shown at Computex, but the limitations of the Flaretech-based analog switches were quickly realized. Others started using optical switches for both digital and analog applications to middling results, and a different mechanism was clearly called for. Perhaps old-school Hall effect switches were the solution? Wooting thought so anyway, showing off its new Lekker switches in 2019 while they were still in development, as well as a prototype of the Wooting two Lekker limited edition.

The Wooting two Lekker Edition may have sold out in a matter of minutes when it first launched, but the Wooting two HE—the base product—had become a reality. This remains a full-size keyboard in a few different layout and language options and comes with a re-worked software driver that is even available as a web-based version. Analog controls on keyboards have also matured since we looked at the Wooting one, and the company saw enough success to make a 60% version as well. I am excited to see what exactly the Wooting two HE brings to the table, and thanks to Wooting for providing TechPowerUp a review sample as we begin with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
