The shape of the Alpha follows the right-handed ergonomic archetype established by the Logitech G502 and Razer Basilisk, albeit with some crucial modifications. The height shift between the left and right side is more pronounced on the Alpha, leading to a less rounded, more tapered top profile. While the hump is centered, it doesn't slope down much towards either end, lending the back additional palm support. Neither the front nor the back flare out significantly, and only the left side curves inward to a substantial degree, whereas the right side has no more than subtle curves. The thumb rest is comparatively large, as is the entire mouse. The Alpha is just long, however, but not very bulky, somewhat similar to the ASUS ROG Chakram in that regard. The main buttons feature moderately deep comfort grooves. Overall, a good and agreeable design.
As for grip styles, I'd say the Alpha is mostly suited for palm and claw grip. It is a large mouse with a moderately pronounced hump, which makes it suit medium to large hands. For reference, my hands are 19 cm long and 10 cm wide, and I found the Alpha comfortable in claw grip.
Dimensions
This table includes the dimensions of the XPG Alpha and several other right-handed ergonomic mice. "Front height" denotes the distance between the base and main buttons. Measurements with two decimals have been taken with a caliper, while those with one decimal have been taken with a ruler.
