Zalman ZM1000-HP Plus 1000 W Review

A Look Inside »

Packaging

Since my back still hurts I was very pleased to see a carrying handle. Contrary to the package of ZM850-HP Plus this one has a black background and on the front a photo of the PSU and the 80PLUS Silver badge take up most of the space. On the rear we find a brief description of the PSU's features and the most interesting part resides on one of the two sides where some internal shots of the PSU are listed.

Contents

Hidden inside the packaging are two smaller boxes. The top one contains the PSU and the other one all accessories. The PSU is well protected by thick bubble wrap. In the accessories box we found an AC power cord, a user's manual, three Velcro cable ties, a set of thumbscrews, the modular cables and a fan multi-connector (ZM-MC1, 4-Pin Molex to 3-Pin 12V/5V).

Exterior

The PSU features a rough matte finish and external construction quality is high. Shame that the EPS cable is not sleeved back into the housing end even bigger shame that the cables' exit hole does not have a grommet for protection of the unsleeved wires. Finally the PSU is huge! It's easily among the longest PSUs I have ever tested. Actually as far as I remember only the Silverstone ST-1500 was just as long, but it had 1500 W under the hood.
