Value and Conclusion

  • Zaward Vapor 120 sells for US $45.81 on Amazon.
  • Great Performance for its size/weight
  • Whisper-quiet in idle
  • Industrial looks
  • 100% memory area clearance
  • Direct-touch heatpipes
  • Provision for second "pull" fan
  • Marginal idle cooling improvement
  • Lighting not very showy due to opaque fan parts
Zaward Vapor 120 wins my praise for a design in which innovations seem to have completely paid off. The Vapor 120, is able to squeeze in quite some heat dissipation area into a compact aluminum fin tower, and ventilate it with a high air-flow to RPM fan. Both the heatsink and fan benefit from design innovations, such as the punched dimples on the fins that create the "breathing effect" or the turbulence-creating fan blades.
The Vapor 120 is able to closely trail behind much higher-priced heatsinks. Its performance is more than good enough to warrant upgrading to it over stock Intel HSF. The other, surprising plus here is the acoustic output. The cooler is whisper-quiet in idle, and continues to be comfortably silent in load. I'm not sure what was idea behind making the fan illuminated, when both its frame and impeller are opaque. It gives four mild-blue streaks, but not showy enough to light up the case, or set an illumination scheme with. Again, that area is subjective. Some may actually tolerate the illumination, now that it's not that bright. Overall, the Zaward Vapor 120 is a cracker of a CPU cooler. Its designers succeeded in squeezing the most into a mid-range product. Highly recommended.
