The EC-B series is a welcome update to the EC lineup, with excellent performance and a proven shape. Utilizing the 3360, the EC-B series offers great tracking speed and accuracy. The design of the mouse makes it look minimalistic, but of high quality. If you like ergonomic mice and the coating works for you, the EC-B series is a safe bet.
The main buttons have a nice click that is light and crisp; however, the side buttons aren't really all that great. If you only use them for browsing or PTT, it should be fine with a bit of getting used to them, but I would not use them for actions that require precise button presses. Personally, this is not a big downside as I don't use side buttons all that much, but I have to deduct points for this.
As always, Zowie doesn't offer any software. You can set the mouse up with the buttons on the bottom and are good to go after you have. That is fine in my eyes as most Zowie users want that barebones experience.
The EC1-B weighs 96 g, which is pretty good for a mouse of its size; the EC2-B clocks in at 90 g, which is a surprisingly small difference considering the EC1-B feels a lot bigger. Due to this, the EC1-B also feels relatively lighter. Still, both feel like they're in a good spot.
The price of $69.99 is certainly on the high side, especially considering that competitors offer full software support at the same price or less. But for me, the easy setup without a software driver, trusted shape with an amazing sensor, and great cable alone make the EC-B series my favorite in the ergonomic mice market.
