Ethereum Mining Performance

Crypto-currency mining is all the rage again with the advent of Ethereum. A relatively new standard in which you can earn money by spending your PC's hardware resources on block-chain processing, Ethereum has crypto-currency "miners" buying up graphics cards by the piles, as GPUs are the only energy-efficient mining hardware with a relatively short ROI time right now.

In this test, we compare the card to various others in our bench, at Ethereum, measured by hash-rate, in MH/s (million hashes per second). We used DAG 160 to test the GPUs. When choosing a GPU for mining, you would ideally want to factor in power consumption as much as the cost of the hardware itself because crypto-currency mining is extremely power consuming. You'd also want to choose cards with good cooling for extended operations.

Since Vega adds new instructions optimized for mining, I wouldn't be surprised to see higher mining performance further down the road, once the mining client developers get their hands on Vega and learn how to use its full potential.
