The Aorus RAID SSD is a solid-state drive in the Add-In Card form factor, launched on January 20th, 2020. It is only available in the 2 TB capacity listed on this page. With the rest of the system, the Aorus RAID SSD interfaces using a PCI-Express 3.0 x8 connection. The SSD controller is the PS5012-E12S-32 from Phison, a DRAM cache chip is available. Aorus has installed 96-layer TLC NAND flash on the RAID SSD, the flash chips are made by Micron. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. The cache is sized at 110 GB, once it is full, writes complete at 2000 MB/s. The RAID SSD is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 6,300 MB/s and 6,000 MB/s write; random IO reaches 240K IOPS for read and 245K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 390 USD. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. Aorus guarantees an endurance rating of 700 TBW, a relatively low value compared to other SSDs.

Notes

Drive:

This drive has 110 GB of pSLC Cache in RAID-0 array.
While in RAID-10 Array the size shrinks to almost 50G with the speeds dropping to ~ 1.079 MB/s (Avg).
And in JBOD mode it shrinks again to an average of 24GB with an average of 530 MB/s per SSD.
Each SSD has 512GB Capacity with 256MB of DRAM Cache as well.

Controller:

2 main cores using Cortex-R5 clocked at 667 MHz with CoXProcessor technology (one additional dual-core) Cortex-R5 clocked at a lower clock for better efficience. The difference between this revision and the E12 revision is that this has a nichel IHS to improve the temperature, a smaller size, smaller node (12nm TSMC FinFET) and this works with less DRAM capacity.
