Diablo 4 Gets New Gameplay Footage

Blizzard has released a new gameplay footage from Diablo IV beta as a part of its "adventure with a dev", hosted by Lead Game Designer, Zaven Haroutunian. In the meantime, and as it was expected, another 36 minutes long video from a Chinese player has also leaked online, showing a lot more gameplay.

Blizzard's own video shows the Lead Game Designer, Zaven Haroutunian, slashing his way through a dungeon and talking about what players can expect to see in the beta phase. It is a rather short video from Kor Dragan Barracks, but gives you a nice idea on what went into designing this game and what to generally expect from it.
On the other hand, a Chinese player has leaked a full 36 minutes of gameplay video. Since it is not on Youtube, Blizzard apparently can't take it down but, it is a low-quality stream with rather annoying background music so it is up to you if you want to see it or not.

The Diablo 4 Open Beta Early Access phase starts tomorrow, and will include the Prologue and the entire Act 1, allowing players to get up to Level 25. As detailed earlier by NVIDIA, the Open Beta phase will get DLSS 2 support, while DLSS 3 will be available in the final version of the game.

This is a terrible piece of footage that's going to deflate a lot of the hype people have for the game - do be warned.
The visuals, lighting and UI of this couch co-op demo look a far cry from what the visuals in PC gameplay do.

Also - the EA beta starts in a few hours.

Honestly the visuals are the least of my worries, I've been avoiding Blizzard for the last few years since they went at war with their own players and that has saved me from disasters like WC3 Reforged and Diablo Immortal (not that I was going to play a stupid mobile game anyway lol!).
If by some miracle it doesn't suck I would be glad to play a new Diablo game, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

Look to overwatch decline and the trainwreck it became(and OW2 mtx chinese-game-like-turd), jeff kaplan bailed that ship at the perfect time (i'm pretty sure he saw the wall approaching on the horizon and the greed corpotrash that is blizzard going full speed ahead), a "new" "AAA" game using the same outdated engine(i don't think it even uses DX12).

Yeah i'm giving diablo 4 a wide berth until a considerable amount of time passes, i'll give it at least a year at the minimum. Also blizzard store does not have regional pricing like steam, so for my country it's unbuyable(at the exchange rate and taxes, it's pretty much a decision to buy the game or don't buy food for an entire month)

I'm gonna try out the beta later today if their servers will allow it. 'I've pre ordered the game, yeah stone/judge me for it I don't care if its main Diablo game I'm playing it not matter what'

That vid with a dev+Bludd is pretty much the console version so that could explain why it looks like that. 'even the console version D3 and D2R looks worse/different than the PC version'

SithaerThey talked about that in one of their quarterly update and if they keep it that way then its only cosmetics:
news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo4/23816415/diablo-iv-quarterly-update-august-2022#Pass

Sure no one can tell if this will be the case say half-1 year after the relase but for now its only that.
Cosmetic purchases in a full price game? that's already annoying.
If they keep it like Dota 2 at least it won't matter if you don't care about cosmetics but they shouldn't have it at all.

It would bother me if the game has only crap looking gear w/o paid cosmetics but that doesn't seem to be the case + you have transmog/color dye system for free. 'This is what really bothered me in Path of Exile cause that one doesn't have this and only the paid cosmetics look any good and you can easily sink more money in that 'free' game than a full priced D4 so theres that'

Also, I know most of you don't or never followed the official Diablo 3/Blizzard forum but guess what this topic came up multiple times over the years that Blizzard should add at least paid cosmetics/stash stabs or anything thats not pay2win to the game so that maybe they would bother to support the game more with new content instead of running it on maintance mode.

If having a non pay2win/progress microtransaction shop gives us more updates/content to D4 then I'm cool with it.

Wait, you BELIEVED them, when they said it was only cosmetics and it would be only cosmetics?

Oh honey, oh honey no. No.

To say nothing, of course, from microtransactions being in a full priced game, from a corporation trying to sell itself for $65 BILLION.. Remember when you bought a game and had a game? I member.

After all the garbage Blizzard has churned out, the players burned, and the communities destroyed, anybody who willingly gives blizzard money gets exactly what they deserve.

I just want OG diablo 2 to be added to GoG alongside OG diablo 1.

Unlike most of you I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and if they still end up adding cash grab pay2win crap to the shop later on then they will get a massive backlash for it anyway and I can still play at my own pace and ignore the shop completely like I usually do. 'guess what no one is forcing you to buy anything from their shops'

I've been playing the serie since the early D2 days when I was just an elementary school kid and bought multiple copies then played D3 since day 1 which I also had pre ordered at the time. 'I'm actually playing it atm just tabbed out of the game '

I paid like what,~100$ for my D3+expansion+necro pack and it gave me 3000+ hours of fun in the span of almost 11 years. If thats what I deserve from D4 again then I would say money well spent and years of fun.:)

You guys can hate on them all you want but many ppl who don't even visit forums will happily play the game anyway. 'my old friend group from D2 are also coming back most likely'

I'm praying that Diablo 4 rights the wrongs of Diablo 3 and returns it to the darker, more Gothic imagery of Diablo 2.....Diablo 3 just looked like World of Warcraft with an Isometric viewpoint....too cartoony and too much of the teal and purple lighting highlights....

Blizzard of Diablo 2 were not the Blizzard of Diablo 3. Diablo 3 was a mess at release, not only because it was centered around being a live-service game with the real money auction house, but because the developers weren't the same. If you want the people that made Diablo 2 good, look no further than Torchlight 2. The second they got rid of the real money auction house was the second they basically abandoned Diablo 3. Just look at their "seasons", they've always been a joke compared to Path of Exile seasons.

I don't understand the love for Blizzard anymore. The love they get is for the nostalgia of what they once were in the 90's and early 2000's. Basically none of the people that made the great Blizzard games work there anymore.
Examples:
Diablo 2 Designers:
David Brevik - No Longer at Blizzard
Erich Schaefer - No Longer at Blizzard (Torchlight 1 & 2)
Max Schaefer - No Longer at Blizzard (Torchlight 1 & 2)
Warcraft 3 Designer:
Rob Pardo - No Longer at Blizzard
World of Warcraft Designer:
Rob Pardo - No Longer at Blizzard
Jeffery Kaplan - No Longer at Blizzard
Tom Chilton - No Longer at Blizzard
Starcraft 2 Designer:
(1 of 3) Dustin Browder - No Longer at Blizzard

I don't really care who is working in a dev team to be honest.
Seen both good and bad games from the same teams and their so called original members. I only care about the end product and if I have fun playing it or not. Really is that simple in my case cause its just gaming and a hobby of mine.
I happened to enjoy every main Diablo game so far regardless of who made it under what team.

Other Blizzard games don't concern me either cause I barely played those.
I don't love nor hate Blizzard but if they relase a game I always had fun playing then obviously I'm gonna give it a chance.

I did try PoE multiple times and its not my cup of tea and rather play D3 or Grim Dawn if I need my ARPG fill for a few weeks. Hopefully D4 can fill that role too.

Runic Games were the Diablo 1 & 2 Devs(Schaefer Brothers). They never made a bad game, it's just that people like you, who just buy games based off of the "Blizzard" developer name attached to the title because you remember they 'make good games', but ignore that it's the people that make the good games, not the name of the company.

Runic no longer exists because people like you continued to play a shoddy broken Diablo 3 throughout 2012 instead of buying and playing Torchlight 2 which came out a few months afterward. And yes, I am a little salty because of that. In my opinion Torchlight 2 is and was the superior ARPG.

Well excuse me for having fun playing certain games I DO enjoy, what a terrible person I am.
And a matter of fact, I did play Torchlight but it never kept my interest for long so I went back to D2 till D3 was relased. 'meanwhile I also played Titan Quest which was my fav go to ARPG other than Diablo at the time'

Anyway the D4 beta is up so I will take my leave there and let you guys keep at this.:) 'whatever this is'

I'm not criticizing you for having fun, I'm criticizing you for blind consumerism/brand loyalty.

Personally, I've never understood the desire to play the exact same game over and over for 1,000 hours, and Diablo 3 never evolved past being the same game exact game, seasons were generally little more than re-balance patches and leader-board resets. The same can't be said for Path of Exile, which evolved into much more than it was at release. And Torchlight 2 was completely moddable, allowing it to be much different than the vanilla game. As for Titan Quest & Grim Dawn, I often lose interest in non-procedural-generated maps, they make replayability too predictable, so they never drew me in as much as the two former titles.

Except that its not blind cause I'm just playing what I never had any real issue with which is the Diablo franchise, to me its normal that I buy the next game from the same franchise that I always had fun with.
You are getting a wrong picture here, I'm not buying or playing Diablo games cause they are made under the name of Blizzard.
I do cause its a game I love and it could be relased/made under whatever the heck named company I would still try it out and play it if its fun and keeps me interested.

For example I loved the Witcher serie and bought them all and yet when Cyberpunk was relased I did not buy it/play it even tho it was made/relased by the same team.
I simply wasn't hyped for the game and waited till late 2022 to buy it and play it so no the oh damn a new game from the Witcher team/devs loyalty did not work on me unlike so many others who then burned down the game for a bad relase.

Its not a desire btw but when I'm having fun with a game I don't count hours or try to make up reasons why I play it cause its not needed as long as I enjoy my time with it.
I also have 1k+ hours in Borderlands 3 and I can still hop in the game and enjoy it for a few runs on one of my ~maxed out chars.
Played a free2play MMO for over 7+ years and I don't even want to know how many hours that was but it was fun for the most part and when it stoped being fun I quited it but I have no regrets playing it.

D3 did evolve quite a lot since the relase version that I can tell you.
PoE's end game is not that much different in a way that all you do is blast end game maps till you are strong enough to face certain end game level strong bosses and beat them.
In D3 you keep getting stronger just so you can blast higher GRs and beat your previous records or just play different builds than the previous season. 'This always keeps me busy for a few weeks in a new season and thats enough for me, btw I also play solo self found hardcore to make it bit more interesting'
Its an ARPG thats what its all about, you farm for stuff so that you can farm even more difficult runs/places until you reach the ~peak performance of your char/build and then drop the game or play a diff char or whatever.
That formula never really changed and I was doing basically the same even in D2 same as my friends and everyone else. 'I wont count the PvP part cause that was fairly niche or just a side fun thing'

Titan Quest but mainly GD has a lot of mods, I've actually played a Diablo 2 mod in GD for a while.

The fact that the video starts with two guys holding controllers...fucking controllers... for a PC game!

They might as well go advertise abortions to the most religious people they can find. Everything they do in regards to Diablo IV seems hell bent on making Diablo players want to reject the game outright.

Looks great, a little too much story/dialogue/cutscenes maybe and not as many enemies at in D2/3, quite a bit of lonely walking even in dungeons, but an easy 4K 144fps with vsync on the 4090 undervolted and sitting below 50°C. Only got disconnected once so far in 4 hours of play time and 1 hour of waiting in queue which i call feeding time so it's fine
Maybe DLSS3 will do 300fps :D
