Hi together,

I had to think a bit about my connections to control and empower all the additionals a bit.

I planned to get a 2nd pump to avoid any hazzle sourced by the amount of angled adapters, radiators, filter/flow indicators and coolers. Also i decided to get an AquaComputer Aquaero 6 Pro to be able to configure the whole cooling without windows. With that Aquaero Change i will have to change the first pump at the Distroplate also. AquaComüuter says that only their D5 Pump is able to drive an AquaComputer D5 on their output of the aquaero. I had drven an EKWB D5 pump for 4 years at a quadro. But to be sure i decided to change the AlphaCool D5 Apex with that AquaComputer one. All that changes had to be made possible.

My first thought was about the PSU and cables. The PSU Calculators at the Internet tells different things. One says that 1.000W are still fine. Others say i would need more power. I want to finish up the Box and don't want to open it again within a few month. So i decided to get a more powerful PSU. In detail I will look for a 1.500W one. No matter what PSU-calculator i ask, all deliver a result below that 1.500 watts. The lowest wattage is estimated by 928w.

All Over I need 7 Molex connectors and 3 SATA ones for the desired cooling loop. So i took a deeper look at the PSU's and their Molex capabilities. I have seen that the manufactorers cut their costs on additional cables. Only the big ones are delivered with more cables.

The next question has been if i have enough PWM-Ports to drive all the Pumps and fans. Yes i do. I have integrated 3 PWM/aRGB hubs and so i can drive all the fans by the Quadro. The Pumps will be controlled directly with the aquaero. This dedication is more about the location all components are built in.

Before i already knew that i will have enough aRGB Ports on my farbwerk360. Moreover. I added 4 ports with integrating the aquaero. Originally i would need a total of 2 Output ports as i only use 2 fixed colors for the whole build.

And i got a real sad result with my printer. The Elegoo saturn got broken he don't want to print any longer correctly. I would be able to repair it for a valuable amout of money. But i estimated to buy new ones within the next two years. And so i decided to let the cable channels be. Most other parts are already printed. The only thing that could be needed is a Bracket for a vertical GPU holder. And that is available by different case manufactorers. So there is no essential need for the round about 1.800€ high expense whilst building my rig. That can be done directly after.

So all the things are thought over for my next order. AquaCompter will be happy to see the revenues with my order seen. :D

I wish all the readers a happy xMas and also a happy new year. Might your wishes be fulfilled. Whatever they are.

To keep anybody on track:

I just ordered a 1.500 Watt Corsair HX1500i FM ATX3 PCIe5 PSU. Additionally i got seven sleeved Akasa 4-Pol Molex Extensions. Let's see when they will arrive. :) Whit that buy I reduce the risk of a power shortage towards zero no matter wich GPU i will use.

My "Dealer" contacted me to inform me that they don't have the sleeved cables any longer. So i canceled them off the Order to get the PSU alone. At Amazon i ordered sleeved Y-Extensions with the same length. At AquaComputer i ordered the two D5 Pumps needed to run at a Aquaero 6. I'm substituting one Pump at the distroplate. So i needed a Pump top for one D5. Also a mounting frame. Also i hadn't hat the Aquaero 6 Pro before. To be save i also got the cooling device to mount. The cables behind the cooler won't touch the Aquaero with that cooler.

I'm just trying to mount an SSD cooler onto a WD850X drive. The cooler package hat three thermal pads in two thickness, the cooler on it's own and a clamp made of plastic. Originally it should be mounted easily. The SSD is single sided. The manual tells me that i have to use both thicknesses. I took the thinner one onto the cooler and the thicker one into the clamp. Then i tried to mount them by lay all packages onto each other and press till it's clicking. It did. But a few seconds later the was a distance between the cooler and the SSD. Not that good idea to have it that. No matter what i did the clamp didn't hold the package together. I will test different ways. But im quite unsure if i want to trust to such a cheap construction. Also there is no cooling at the clamp at all. Chips there don't have any contact to a piece of metal taking the heat from the lower chips and transporting towards the water. The next try was to use both thinner pads. That worked much better. So in differencee to the manual i use 2 0,5mm thin pads on the SSD instead of a thin 0,5mm one at the chips side and a thicker 1,5mm one on the bottom. The coolers have to show me first that they are trustworthy. I have to say that i wouldn't recommend the coolers to others by now.

Hi,
SN850x 4tb is double sided so you must of gotten a 2tb model.
Thinner 0.5mm on the back side of the m.2 no chips to worry about
Thicker 1.0mm on the top for chips.
Third pad is likely for double sided 4tb versions where you'd need on the back part of a 0.05mm pad on lower area "no chips" and another 0.05mm to go all the way across to keep same thickness.

Which I had to do the third pad thing to my sn850x 4tb models.
I may have used 1.0mm all the way across on the back though.

I bought 2* 2TB WD SN850X. I applied 2 thinner pads as on thicker and one thinner isn't held by the clamp. In the manual they say if one sided one shoud use both thiknesses. If double sided only the thin pads. I wouldn't feel real good to use that coolers if i use double sided SSD's. They miss any heat trasnsportation from the back. There is only athe clamp made of plastic. Probably ABS. Such a clamp cost me round about 1€ to print it. If i would use double sided WD SN drives i would have to use only one thin pad that the clamp holds the cooler on the drive.

Also the idea of the raid doesn't work as intended. The M.2 drives are connected to the CPU. If using the raid option the data gets to die bios first. And there the connection etween CPUU and BIOS/PCH is PCIe 4.0X4. If i use 2 PCIe 5.0x4 drives the resultimg speed will be nearby PCIe 4.0x2. That doesn't make any sense. So i will have to drop that idea.

Hi,
Yeah plastic is not a good heatsink for sure or very strong.
This is the only raid I use lol

I have the same Raid cans. :D

Originally i was planning to use 2 drives in a Raid-0 volume. That should double the speed of the drives and also the size is doubled when using two identical drives. But why should i apply them when the resulting speed is 4 times lower than with a single non-RAID drive? In germany we name that "Casting pearls before swines" (Perlen vor Säue werfen).

I give the coolers a try but i don't expect too much. The upper part looks real good. heavy metal, acetal. But the lower is the opposite. Just cheap. Also the manual doesn't work that good on my drives. Let's see how the ram coolers look alike. I bought the SSD coolers especially without LED's. One of that coolers did cost me 30€. And for that amount of money one gets cheap plastic clamps for less of one euro

I didn't trust that motherboard solution. Also i did want to have the heat out of the case. With all the water coolers and radiators the only heat sources inside the case are the VRM/PCH from the board, the Aquaero, the 2 pumps and the BluRay burner. CPU, GPU, SSD's and RAM transfer their heat via watr straight to the radiators and there the air will be heaten. But that is straight at the end of the inner air flow. All that only to avoid any throttling of the hardware. I don't pay that much money for all the equipment to have it throttled when i need the speed. ;)

It seems that the thinking about possible problems won't end. I'm thinking if the soft tubes can have that small turning diameter not to wreck my mainboard whilst mounted at yt my SSD-coolers. To have an alternative i estimated the costs of having hard tubes. It's not that cheap. But cheaper than buying and substituting a new board because the SSD's or RAM got ripped off. Especially as i don't need to go pure on hard tubes. Some still can be done with soft tubes. Moreover it is practical. The tubes are invisible and needs to be flexible to get mounted. I still don't know where this build leads to.

Hi,
Nice score on the 4tb since m.2 prices aren't near as good as end of last year.

In germany they are quite stable. The bought items kept their prices for weeks now. I got 2 SN850x 2TB last november for around 115€ each. Now they are charging around 170€ for them. I track at a daily base all the prices for the articles i want to buy.

I decided to have the 4TB Drive for Linux. the Samsung 2TB for Windows and the two 2T WD for data drives. One for Development and one for 3D construction. It took me a longer time of thinking about my workload and research to decide keeping on PCIe 4.0 instead of having the OS-Drives as PCIe 5.0. Two crucial T700 (2TB and 4TB) wuld have coust twice of the Samsung drives. An upgrade i don't see at my workload. If i would have selected the PCIe5 drives they would have worked in a raid system. But that is senseless at my mainboard as the resulting speed is PCIe4x2.

The last two internal drives:

I guess that a total of 9TB in NVME SSD will be enough. Linux will have 4TB, Windows (Service) will have 2TB. The two data drives I got earlier will have 2 x 2 TB. 2TB for 3D Scanning, Modelling etc and 2 T for datas like letters, Development, etc. All four drives are single sided. So i won't have a problem with the AlphaCool SSD-Waterblocks as they don't have a backside cooler. Just plain plastics. First i was a bit afraid that the Waterblock mounted at the SSD won't work at my board at the 1st slot. There asus applied two Heatstripes. At all other slots they used one. But when cross checking with one of the drived i already owned i realised that it's fine and fits.

In the evening i built in the two SSD that wear already the watercooling block on top. I was quite irritated when i realized that one can slide the whole coolig block on top of the SSD. For me that means that there is a loosy contact between the SSD and the block. I don't have a good feeling about that cooling device on top of the SSD's. How the heat can be transferred with that loosy contact? i don't trust that SSD-Coolers from Alphacool. I guess ttat i will use the original Air cooled plates by Asus. Those ones are heavy ( much cooling material) and Heat trransfer pads are already mounted. But most of all i guess that Asus knows how thick those pads have to be at their board and might provide a good cooling. At all if needed i can apply the water coolers later.

I bought the heat transfer past Arctic MX-6 a few weeks ago. But i will give the Thermal Grizzly - KryoSheet a try. If it doesn't perform good i will use the MX-6 paste.I ordered one piece for the CPU. It will be delivered between 07.02. and 08.02. this year.

All of it it's a learning curve about the optimum.

Today i tried to scan in the holding clamps of the SSD-Cooler. I own a Creality Scan Lizard. That scanning didn't work as the scanner doesn't recognize black colors. Unfortunately the clamp was colored in black. So i will to have using a CAD Program to get the clamp with the original measurement. Then i have to adapt the height of the clamp so that the SSD fits in perfectly. With my next order i will also buy some Arctic TP3 Pads to use it on the SSD's. For the CPU i got Thermal Right Kryosheet. Alternatly i also own Arctic MX-6.

I started to design the new clambs for the SSD Cooler. AlphaCool made it real cheap. There are 4 srews in the lower cooling plate integrated. That plate sits straight onto the SSD. Unfortunately the screws are not flat inegrated. they are 0,7mm above the orinial cooling plate. That makes it quite complicated to have the cooler laying plain onto the pad onto the SSD surface. I wouldn't suggest anybody to use this coolers already because of that. If one uses it he needs 1,5/2mm thick pads on that surface. But that will reduce the cability to transfer heat in difference to thinner pads..

A first aproach to the clamb design:

Screenshot (93).png

I used 3D Builder for that construction. On top one can see the cooler in Blue. In red there is the symbolic SSD. The yellow box shows a heatpad. The clamb ia drawn in green. All of them are in original measures. If i want to take SSD's with a differebt height i just need to shortne/expand the height of the clamb. But first i need to print the clamb to see if it also fits in reality.

after changing to the slicing tool and positioning the clamb correctly it shows the following:

Within the next three month i will have to buy and build a new printer desk. After i will buy a new Printer with a new curing-/washing-machine and at least buying new resin. 22 Liters in total. then the build of the rig will continue.

This month i had to order a couple of things to set up a new Printers place. This is needed as the new printer including the new curing-/washing-station have a bigger size (especially the depth) than my old one. As i mentioned before my 3D printer got broken. I did not want to fix it so i have to buy a new one. That will be invested next month. After i will have to buy resin again. All over around 1.800 €. Only to fix the problems and failures from Alphacool's SSD-Cooler.After the resin i'm back on my track about Endor.

got the second part of the puzzle fon a shelf stand for 3D Printers today. It did only weight around 40kg and has a size of 40cmx130cm. I had a lot of work to get it into my apartment because of sitting in a wheel chair. The next will be a top plate next week. All has the color of my litchen furniture as it will have an ending space there. It will be real funny to build it together while only sitting at the ground. Next month i will order the new 3D resin printer and the new curing-/washingstation.

I got two shelves. Then two stripes of feelt gliders. A new power strip with a surge protection and a clear plastic tablecloth. All that only for a shorter time. I plan to get high load racks for my printers next year or so. When i got them i will transfer the actual bought rack to the kitchen to have more counterspace for all the items standing around..

I had to make a short break to invest at an ither edge. My old mobile (Nokia 6) got broken. The battery got blasted. So i had to get a new Mobile. I decided to buy a Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. This one is now delivered. It could be that i will buy a small Notebook next month. But there i have to think a bit about. Especially if i need it and what i will do with it. The classical UseCase. It could be that this thoughts will interfere the hardware selection of my actual rig. If i run Win on the notebook i will transfer the intended work over to that device. So i.e. 3D Scanning. After i have to get the new 3D Resin Printer. And afterthat i will continue on my rig. Not that easy. Because one cannot spend a greenback multiple times. ;)
