Lords of the Fallen Patch 1.1.191 Fixes Some Bugs but No More DLSS 3 Frame Generation

Lords of the Fallen only launched yesterday, and it has been plagued by various performance and stability issues, but luckily, Hexworks has already launched the new Patch 1.1.191, which should fix some of those issues. Unfortunately, the new patch also disables the NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation in order to "prevent the crashes that some players are experiencing with their brand-new 40 series GPUs." Hexworks added that they are working with NVIDIA to deliver more stable drivers that should fix the issue.

In addition to DLSS 3 Frame Generation problems, the new patch will also check for outdated drivers at launch. It also fixes an engine error that was happening on certain NVIDIA RTX 30 and 40 series GPUs, causing the game to crash, as well as the crash after the first cinematic during shader compile. The new patch also brings some other performance, balancing, bosses, PvP, visuals, audio, and other fixes.

Update Oct 15th: Hexworks has just released yet another Patch, version 1.1.193, which brings a couple of updates, including fixes for various crashes, a workaround to the POS Calculation Crash, as well as an option to manually activate DLSS Frame Generation. You can find the full release notes for Patch 1.1.193 below.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 to Officially Launch Tomorrow, Forspoken and Immortals of Avenum as Launch Titles

AMD has confirmed that FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) will launch tomorrow, September 29, with Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum listed as first game titles to support it. The news was announced by Frank Azor over at Twitter, with the promise of more titles coming soon. In case you missed it back when it was announced in August, the FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 Fluid Motion (FSR 3 Fluid Motion) is AMD's direct answer to NVIDIA's DLSS 3 Frame Generation. As promised back then, the FSR 3 will work on the latest AMD Radeon RX 7000 series and previous-generation Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards based on the RDNA3 architecture, as well as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-, RTX 30-, and RTX 20-series graphics cards.

As explained back then, AMD FSR 3 Fluid Motion is a frame-rate doubling technology that generates alternate frames by estimating an intermediate between two frames rendered by the GPU. While Frank did not specifically mention any game titles, back in August, AMD confirmed that Forsaken and Immortals of Aveum will be the first two titles with FSR 3 Fluid Motion support.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Available Now With NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and Full Ray Tracing

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is now available on PC with full ray tracing, DLSS 3.5, and Ray Reconstruction. Phantom Liberty is a new spy-thriller adventure for Cyberpunk 2077. When the orbital shuttle of the President of the New United States of America is shot down over the deadliest district of Night City, there's only one person who can save her - you. Become V, a cyberpunk for hire, and dive deep into a tangled web of espionage and political intrigue, unraveling a story that connects the highest echelons of power with the brutal world of black-market mercenaries. If you don't own the expansion, return to the neon lights of Night City in Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update, available now, featuring support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and its new Ray Reconstruction technology, enhancing the quality of full ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077's Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode.

Crank Ray Tracing Up To Overdrive
Both Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty feature full ray tracing in the technology preview for the Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode. Full ray tracing, also known as path tracing, accurately simulates light throughout an entire scene. It is used by visual effects artists to create film and TV graphics that are indistinguishable from reality, but until the arrival of GeForce RTX GPUs with RT Cores, and the AI-powered acceleration of NVIDIA DLSS, real-time video game full ray tracing was impossible because it is extremely GPU intensive.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Could See Price Cuts to $549

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB graphics card finds itself embattled against the recently launched AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, and board partners from NVIDIA's ecosystem plan to do something about it, reports Moore's Law is Dead. A GIGABYTE custom-design RTX 4070 Gaming OC graphics card saw a $549 listing on the web, deviating from the $599 MSRP for the SKU, which hints at what the new pricing for the RTX 4070 could generally look like. At $549, the RTX 4070 would still sell for a $50 premium over the RX 7800 XT, probably banking on better energy efficiency and features such as DLSS 3. NVIDIA partners could take turns to price their baseline custom-design RTX 4070 product below the MSRP on popular online retail platforms, and we don't predict an official price-cut that applies across all brands, forcing them all to lower their prices to $549. We could also see NVIDIA partners review pricing for the RTX 4060 Ti, which faces stiff competition from the RX 7700 XT.

NVIDIA Announces Half-Life 2 RTX, an RTX Remix Community Project

NVIDIA RTX Remix Community is a group of game developers remastering popular games from the past. "Quake II RTX" and "Portal with RTX" were extremely well received, and the community now turned its sights to a cult classic—Half-Life 2. When it came out in 2004 (that's 19 years ago!), Half-Life 2 already set standards for realism, and invented several new gameplay mechanics. It is believed to have edged past "Doom 3" in art direction and production quality for the time; and now the RTX Remix Community is inviting game modders to join the effort at this page.

Four of HL2's top modding teams, known as Orbfold Studios, is leading the effort within the community, at remastering the entire game—an effort on a much larger scale than "Portal." The remaster will include full ray tracing effects, support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation, RTX-IO, and modernized assets (higher resolution textures, higher poly-count models, with support for modern surfaces and geometry. The teaser from NVIDIA includes a picture of the HEV Suit from the game, and a scene from the game showing just how much more advanced the game is shaping up to be! The company didn't announce any timeline to go with Half-Life 2 RTX, since it is still in development.

NVIDIA Boosts GeForce NOW Ultimate RTX 4080 Availability, Adds Xbox PC Game Pass Support

NVIDIA in its Gamescom 2023 presentation began with announcing updates to the GeForce NOW game-streaming platform. Its Ultimate performance tier, which gives you performance and quality comparable to a gaming PC powered by an RTX 4080 graphics card, is now deployed throughout Europe and North America, with as many as 15 RTX 4080 SuperPod locations. Gamers in these locations will be able to opt for the company's highest tier of game streaming. An RTX 4080 SuperPod is a data-center of game streaming servers can provide each client (gamer) with performance rivaling an RTX 4080-powered machine.

GeForce NOW Ultimate lets you play and stream at 4K or Ultrawide resolution at 120 frames per second, or play at up to 240 FPS with DLSS 3 and reflex. NVIDIA has optimized over 40 AAA games for GeForce NOW Ultimate, and plans to add four new games titles to the mix, including Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, Payday 3, and Party Animals. Next up, NVIDIA introduced Xbox PC Game Pass support on GeForce NOW. If you have an Xbox PC Game Pass subscription, you can play any of the games available to you on the GeForce NOW platform from that subscription, without having to pay for the title on GeForce NOW. NVIDIA says that the first Xbox PC Game Pass titles should begin streaming from August 24, 2023.

NVIDIA Announces DLSS 3 and Reflex Updates for Several Upcoming AAA Games

NVIDIA provided a quick update in its Gamescom 2023 presentation on several upcoming AAA games. Before that, NVIDIA provided a brief overview on how the RTX ecosystem is shaping up. There are now over 450 games and apps accelerated by RTX today. On games that support RTX ray tracing and DLSS, NVIDIA measured that 79% of the gamers turn DLSS on, and 83% of them turn RT on. DLSS is a sought-after feature in the PC gaming space, as it unlocks higher levels of performance than what a given tier of gaming hardware is capable of.

On to the specific announcements, and NVIDIA revealed that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will come with support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex. Payday 3 is another hotly anticipated title, and it gets both DLSS 3 and Reflex support, when it launches this September. Another major announcement is that Fortnite gets DLSS 3 Frame Generation support. This should prove particularly useful for those on mid-range RTX 40-series GPUs such as the RTX 4060, as it would allow them upgrade headroom for higher resolution monitors, or room for more eye-candy as Epic Games adds them with future updates.

Immortals of Aveum Gets Updated PC Requirements, Confirms DLSS 3 and FSR 2.2 Support at Launch

The day is almost here. The release of Immortals of Aveum is just around the corner, and we here at Ascendant Studios are so incredibly excited for players to get to experience what we've been building all this time. As we inch closer to August 22nd, we wanted to take a moment to talk a bit more about the technology that's powering our game, and what that means for PC players in particular.

Earlier this year, we talked about some of the amazing tools we've had at our disposal as one of the first studios to release a AAA game using Unreal Engine 5.1. There's Nanite, for example, which automatically adjusts the details the player sees based on distance, letting us build huge, detailed 3D objects that look every bit as good up close as they do from virtual miles away. The additional surface detail of our objects provide significantly more places for lighting to bounce off of.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Drops Below the $1000-mark

NVIDIA's high-end GeForce RTX 4080 has, for the very first time, dropped below the $1,000-mark in pricing. A Newegg retailer-level promotion sees the MSI RTX 4080 Ventus 3X OC graphics card listed at $1,099, with a coupon shaving off a further $100. This is a 16.5% discount over the $1,199 NVIDIA baseline MSRP for the RTX 4080. The MSI Ventus 3X OC was originally launched at a $60 premium over the MSRP.

The GeForce RTX 4080 is seeing a much needed downward trend in street pricing, with the graphics card market as a whole experiencing a slump. The RTX 4080 in particular could be experiencing pressure from the Radeon RX 7900 XTX for NVIDIA and retailers to consider price-cuts, with the lowest street-price for the AMD flagship recorded at $881. It's probably hoped that a $999 price could attract some buyers away from the RX 7900 XTX. The GeForce RTX 4080 is an enthusiast-class graphics card designed for maxed-out gaming at 4K Ultra HD, with ray tracing enabled, and loaded with features such as DLSS 3 and dual-stream encoders and decoders.
