Scorn Xbox Series X Trailer Was Actually Running On RTX 2080 Ti GPU

In a recent interview with wccftech, Ebb Software's Game Director Ljubomir Peklar explained why the Scorn trailer for Xbox Series X was labeled as 'in-engine footage representative of expected Xbox Series X visual quality'. Ljubomir Peklar revealed that the trailer was actually run on a high-end system featuring an RTX 2080 Ti paired with a Ryzen processor. The game is set to target 4K 60 FPS with high graphical fidelity on Xbox Series X but a 2070 Super with a mixture of settings is adequate to run the game at 4K 60 FPS on PC.

Devolver, Croteam Share Details and New Trailer for Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass

Devolver and Croteam today announced some details regarding their in-development Serious Sam 4. As one of the first demon-slaying, badass-filled PC games ever released, Serious Sam enjoys somewhat of a cult status. The new trailer nothing like what you'd expect, though some of the classical monsters the series is best known for are present. With Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal enjoying tremendous market success (even with a snag here and there), what does Serious Sam 4 have to offer to be able to compete?

Not an open-world, that's a given: Serious Sam 4 will present players with much bigger environments than any other previous game in the series (which is to be expected), but the gameplay will still be a linear experience (broken here and there with some optional objectives, secrets, and traps laid out by your monstrous adversaries. Motorcycles, combines, and even the Popemobile (yes, you read that right) will be present in the game to aid you in your murderous rampage. Check the new trailer after the break. Only two more months to go.

New CG, Gameplay Trailers Released for Baldur's Gate 3; Will Only Release on PC

Larian studios yesterday released two brand-new trailers for their upcoming Baldur's Gate 3. The game is being built with Larian Studios' new Divinity 4.0 Engine, so if you liked the base look of Larian's other titles (such as Divinity: original Sin), you'll likely enjoy Baldur's Gate 3 as well. This new game engine is being touted as representing a remarkable evolution for the studio, giving players unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that truly reacts to their choices. You can watch these trailers after the break.

It's interesting to note that Baldur's Gate 3 executive producer David Walgrave told Eurogamer that the game is currently only being developed for PC, with no intention of releasing it on current-gen consoles (next-gen ones, however, are a different matter entirely, of course). According to the producer, "I don't think that current-gen consoles would be able to run it. There's a lot of technical upgrades and updates that we did to our engine. I don't know if it would be capable of being able to actually run on those things. Maybe it could run, but then we would have to tone down the textures and this and that and it wouldn't look as cool anymore." Do you think the shown graphics justify that the games aren't being developed for current-gen consoles, or do you think Larian is simply catering to their prime market first?

People Can Fly, Square Enix Release Gameplay Trailer for Next-Gen Videogame Outriders

People Can Fly and Square Enix today released a gameplay trailer for their upcoming, next-gen game Outriders. The game, which will be available in current-gen systems as well as Xbox Series X, PS5 and PC, is a 1-3 player, drop-in drop-out co-op RPG shooter which promises to be set in a futuristic, dark sci-fi universe. The premise is as such: humanity as we know it abandoned Earth in search of a new home, which they thought they had found in the form of Enoch. A worldwide, storm-like event dubbed The Anomaly (which may have been produced by more than weather phenomena, I wager) forced humanity back into cryo-suspension whilst they waited for the proverbial storm to pass. The eventually reawakened ones find burning powers within themselves that will force them to confront their humanity, evolve - and eventually, to become something different.

People Can Fly describe the game as "Players will create their own Outrider and embark on a journey across a hostile planet. With rich storytelling spanning a diverse world, they will leave behind the slums and shanty towns of the First City and traverse forests, mountains and deserts in pursuit of a mysterious signal." You can expect an arsenal of weapons and supernatural powers, though the exact nature of the game's world and systems (open-world, quasi-open world, or some such) still haven't been clarified. Expect the game to drop come holiday 2020, right alongside the next-generation console launch. A reveal stream will be available via Twitch in about two days - there's a countdown timer in the official Outriders page.

PC Teaser Trailer Released for Detroit: Become Human

Well, Quantic Dream has been on a roll launching its formerly PlayStation-exclusive titles in a remastered form on the PC platform. I hope you've been having fun with them - if you crave strong, cinematic storytelling and complicated, branching choices and dynamic narratives, David Cages' brainchilds will be right up your proverbial alley. And it seems the PC versions of the games are well optimized and have more than adequate compatibility and stability - and I might be making the ports a disservice by using those particular adjectives. Just keeping your expectations in check.

I'd say this is one of the more aspiring stories told by Quantic Dream - easily. The scenarios that play out in the course of the game are all too real (at least in my own personal view of society and our systems) not to take a look at. It's a human dream, this one game. Take a look at the trailer after the break. Detroit: Become Human will be available for the PC platform via the Epic Games Store, and is expected to drop before the end of this year.

From Software's "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice" Gets Launch Trailer

Fans of From Software's grueling worlds of tactical button prompts, perfect timing with animation triggers, and the oh so sweet taste of hard-wrought victory are in for another treat from the studio. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice doesn't surprise anyone by now; its existence has been made very well known, and is very well known, despite a pretty silent marketing campaign for the game. But From Software doesn't have marketing needs: their games, as their audience, are of the strong, silent type.

The new launch trailer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is action-packed, showcasing some of the game's verticality and head-to-head combat. If you're into the whole feudal Japan theme, and a bit into the masochistic side of the equation, you have to do yourself a favor and take a look at this game. Knowing From Software, it will be an evocative world building experience like few exist in the gaming world.

EA Releases Anthem Launch Trailer... Two Weeks Ahead of Anthem Itself

So, this is kind of a strange, time-traveling move on EA (and Bioware's) part: a launch trailer that jumps the gun on the actual game by almost two weeks. So, granted, it isn't really two weeks - it's a ten-day period between today and Anthem's February 22nd launch. That said, there really are some more days left on the calendar - the launch trailer seems slightly premature.

Perhaps this is EA's way of keeping interest in Anthem and recapturing some of that original hype. With the game's demo being plagued by stability and server issues during the initial period, and the game's demo itself receiving a more lukewarm than not response from critics and the (more outspoken) community, it seems that interest in this Destiny killer has waned in recent times. Which really could be bad news, considering EA's history, and Bioware's last title, Mass Effect: Andromeda's, fate. There's also the possibility that the recent launch of EA's own sleeper-hit Apex Legends - which has recently garnered some 10 million unique players in four days since its inception. Perhaps the thunder is being stolen out of Anthem's feet with a series of unfortunate circumstances - not incidents. It remains to be seen. For now, instead of spelling doom left and right, just watch the small but cool Anthem launch trailer. Let's hope the story holds... For a game with no PvP, let's just hope the story holds.

4A Games Releases New Cinematic, CGI Trailer for Metro Exodus: "Artyom's Nightmare"

Despite the controversy, review bombing, and overall reaction/counter reaction routine on the whole Metro Exodus and its EPIC Games Store exclusivity, the game is shaping up to be one of the hottest releases of 2019. With 4A Games' experience and ability as a developer having already been proven with their original Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light games, the controversy doesn't really matter: the game is expected to be a good one.

And as it stands, 4A Games is doing what it can to open up the lore and world of Metro to the highest number of people possible. As a part of that effort, they have released a brand new CGI cinematic for Metro: Exodus. Titled Artyom's Nightmare, this is a 4-minute long cinematic that showcases the beauty of pre-rendered graphics, the depth and scale of lore drenching the frames of this cutscene, and the games' mood. Even though CGI movies have fallen significantly in use, with most developers choosing the in-engine rendering mechanic, I'd argue that these story explorations are the bread and butter for today's CGI landscape, offering the most compelling atmosphere and image quality for story and content absorption, whilst avoiding the "reality check" of jumping from in-engine to CGI cutscenes (even though in-engine scenes are fast becoming virtually indistinguishable from actual CGI).

NVIDIA RTX in Action at CES 2019 Trailer for Upcoming Atomic Heart

While adoption of NVIDIA's RTX ray tracing technology has been slow, the potential for the technology is undeniable. Games like Battlefield V have shown us how some increased optimization work can bring interesting, improved visuals at even the lowest setting of the technology. More games will eventually come out with NVIDIA's RTX technology - Metro: Exodus being one of the most hyped, high-profile one, but one other gem was presented when NVIDIA announced their RTX series: Atomic Heart.

At CES 2019, developer Mundfish outed another trailer that shows off the ray tracing capabilities embedded in this China Miéville-esque game. An FPS game with USSR inspirations, NVIDIA's RTX will be used for accurate reflections and deeper shadows, much like in Remedy's also upcoming Control. The game is still ways, ways off, though - Jensen Huang does say this is what "next-generation gaming will look like"; and it's expected that the developer will only release a closed beta for the game come 4Q 2019. That's a lot of time between it being showcased as an NVIDIA RTX title and its actual release. Still, take a look at the video below for some more renditions of NVIDIA's RTX tech and what ray tracing can bring to the table.

New Story Trailer, Screenshots for 4A Games' Metro: Exodus Released

4A Games is taking advantage of the hype surrounding CEs to increase hype for their upcoming open-world take o the Metro universe. Based on Dmitriy Glukhovsky's novels of the same name, Metro: Exodus brings a new open-world design, improved game systems and graphics, featuring support for ray tracing via NVIDIA's RTX. The new story trailer showcases both the game's graphics and gloomy, yet hopeful atmosphere, and the screenshots show exactly how it can look in the best scenarios. Look for the trailer after the break.

This is the Trailer for Battlefield V War Stories, a Single-Player Mode That Prepares Us For the Fight

Not quite much had been shown for Battlefield V single-player mode, but EA and DICE have finally released the first trailer that allows us to take a sneak peak at the promising "War Stories" missions. The game will not feature a classic single player mode with a long story focused on one character. Instead, it will include four different missions that bring us to different locations and characters. Those will make us familiarize with several scenarios, weapons and vehicles in the game.

The missions take place in locations such as Nordlys, where we will have to resist German occupation in Norway. There's another mission where we will have to sabotage behind enemy lines as an unlikely English soldier. Tiralleur is the third single-player War Story, and will follow the Senegalese units of the French Colonial Forces, while the last mission (available in December) is called The Last Tiger and will make us join the crew of a Tiger I as they question why they fight. Battlefield V is out worldwide November 20 after the announced delay a few weeks ago.

Just Cause 4 Story, Gameplay Trailer Outed

Continuing the theatrics and explosions of previous entries, Square Enix has just revealed a story and gameplay trailer for the upcoming Rico-fest, version 4. Just Cause 4 will follow Rico's exploits on Solis, a "huge South American world home of conflict, oppression and extreme weather conditions" (there are more than 1,024 square kilometers on this title), as he hunts down "the truth about his past, at any costs". To do so, he'll have to defeat a high-tech, private military organization, dubbed Black Hand. Catch the trailer below as an entrée to the games' launch, scheduled for December 4th.

Latest Metro: Exodus Trailer Showcases the Beauty of NVIDIA RTX

NVIDIA is pushing its RTX dialing up to eleven, today partnering with 4A Games to launch a stunning, 6-minute trailer showcasing their RTX global illumination technology that's being baked into the next installment in the popular Metro series. An image speaks more than a thousand words, and in here, there are approximately 21,600 of them (provided there are no frame drops, eh).

Metro: Exodus is prepped for launch on February 22nd, 2019, and will leverage NVIDIA's RTX tech for its new, open-world approach, built upon 4A games' aptly named 4A Engine. It's interesting that in the presentation, RTX calculations are said to take up three rays per pixel per frame - so some quick math leads to the immense amounts of computing power being leveraged here. Is it worth it? Perhaps you can tell after looking through the video.

CD Projekt Red Releases Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer with Hidden Message

CD Projekt Red made good on their promise to present their role-playing game at this year's E3 event. Although the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer is only 1 minute 41 seconds long, it did reveal new details about the game. However, CD Projekt Red did so in a very ingenious way. A YouTube viewer spotted a hidden message at the end of the game trailer. In order to view the complete message, it's necessary to view the trailer in 4K resolution and drop the playback speed to 0.25 around the 1:39. We've provided a transcript of CD Projekt Red's message to their fans below. Enjoy!

Croteam Releases New Teaser Trailer for Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass

Croteam today released a teaser trailer and screenshot for Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass. As the name implies, Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass is the fourth installment in the Serious Sam franchise and will supposedly reignite the series with high-adrenaline action, enormous hordes of enemies to kill, and a plethora of new weapons to choose from. A full reveal of the game will take place at the Devolver Digital E3 conference this coming June. For those who are interested, the Steam page for Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass is live if you want to add the game to your wishlist. Unfortunately, Croteam didn't announce the official launch date, so we'll have to wait until E3 to get more information.

3DMark Cloud Gate Trailer Posted

If you're waiting for Futuremark's next big graphics benchmark app as eagerly as we are, we'll both have to put up with more teasers before its January 2013 launch. Here's one for the week. After posting pictures and a video of the hardware-intensive "Fire Strike" DirectX 11 game test two weeks ago, and following up last week with pictures of its more forgiving DirectX 10 game test titled "Cloud Gate," Futuremark posted its trailer this week. Unlike with Fire Strike, for which Futuremark urged viewers to watch the video at 1440p (2560 x 1440, original) resolution, Cloud Gate is recorded at 1080p (1920 x 1080), probably because variations of this test will be used in several other form-factors, such as notebooks and all-in-one desktops. Watch the teaser video after the break.
