Celebrate Windows 7 Launch at Home, Get Rewarded

In what will go down as a wacky PR stunt, Microsoft will be rewarding you with special editions of its Windows 7 operating system - for hosting its launch party at your home in the week of its international release. In return for hosting the party, you'll be given Windows 7 Ultimate "Signature Edition", and Windows 7 Party Pack. You can choose between four themes for your party: PhotoPalooza, Media Mania, Setting up with Ease, or simply Family Friendly Fun.

Residents of the following countries can apply: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom and United States. If you're selected, you'll be assisted by House Party - a leading party organizer. "Pick a theme, then upload photos and videos, chat with other hosts, blog your experience, and download fun favours all from your personal House Party page." Here are the details, good luck.

This is weird man. Real weird. I understand that they want to get the word out about Windows 7, but IMO this is the WRONG way to do it.

If Sweden was there I would have bought a keg of beer, a pizza and have the party all by myself, dancing away to bubblegum pop.

It's actually pretty clever. Instead of hiring what 50(?) models, studio sets, and fake parties to make up PR for each country, they just have to shell out money for Windows 7 copies and part of the party organising.

I'm not sure I understand how this works exactly. You host some sort of party, upload photos of it and then you are eliigible to be entered into a drawing for a "signature Win7"?

You apply, if you're selected, you'll host a party, and get the Win 7.

I'll just score a win 7 from an MVP for half the price then go party and get wasted the whole weekend while waiting for the thing to finish installation in my pad.
