AMD Phenom II X6 Processors Start Shipping

Retailers have started shipping AMD's Phenom II X6 series of desktop six-core processors. The Phenom II X6 is AMD's first consumer six-core processor for desktops, which intends to compete with Intel at aggressive price-points. AMD is starting the series with two models, the Phenom II X6 1055T and Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition. German retailer VV Computer priced the 1055T under 200€ at 198.7€, while the 1090T Black Edition goes for a little over 300 €, at 309.9€.

The Phenom II X6 1055T runs at 2.80 GHz, with Turbo Core speed of 3.30 GHz, while the Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition runs at 3.20 GHz with 3.60 GHz of Turbo Core speed, and an unlocked bus multiplier to help overclocking. Both chips have 9 MB of total cache, and TDP of 125W.

Anybody know when the UK will be getting stock? I'm order from within the EU, but it's not like it'll kill me to wait.
Wanting to set up a workstation/server/cruncher though, and would do very naughty things to get an X6 into my build.

would love to see some benches in games like GTA4/arma2 with the 1090 against the 955 both at 3.2 and the 1090 without turbo mode to get an idea how much of a difference 6 cores make.

Makes sense. Aren't these things packaged in Malaysia?
OneCoolSo according to Futuremark a X6 clocked over 4ghz scores half as much as a 980X at 3.5ghz?
Futuremark is full of suck and fail.

Although when I first installed my Phenom II 920 it said unknown processor until a BIOS update yet functioned the same. Is it possible they can still function???

quite possible yes.

But i'm confident turbo mode wont work, at least (unless thats software controlled?)

thats really interesting, is it faster than a normal phenom II somehow, or is it just these games are liking the extra cores?

Dammit. It seems it's really only on par with an i7 w/HT on clock for clock in encoding. I was really hoping for a better showing. Given that the Intels clock just as well, but the platform is more flexible, I now don't know what I should do. I had expected x6 to be better, and had therefore planned to go that route for the 24/7 rig, but now I may have to go with a second X58 rig instead.
