New AMD Roadmap
Today on AMD Analyst Day, they presented their new Roadmap for 2006, 2007 and 2008.
This year AMD will shrink their processors to 65nm and as we reported introduce the "dual" Socket 4x4. In 2007 the caches should become larger and quadcore will be released. DDR3 and the next generation PCIe will be introduced in 2008. For original slides read the whole story.

Next Gen PCI-E x32? Probably. Can't wait though!
FX is inferred under "performance" on the desktop slide
AMD 3800 2.4ghz Dual socket version £100
AMD 3800 2.4ghz Single socket version £150
but make the dual socket version only work if there are 2 and not one
therefore it wil be:
2 x £100 = £200 for dual socket
1 x £150 = £150 for single socket
this way it wont be 2 x 150 which would mean £300, and the dual socket version wont work by it self and you would be cheating as you would only have paid £100 and not £150
this is just an example, price and name of cpu and theory are made up but i think they should use my theory as it makes the 4x4 more cheaper
2xx = 2-way server (2 sockets at most)
8xx = 8-way server (8 sockets at most; also used in 4-way servers)
