Max Payne 3 PC Has "Gloriously Increased" Detail

Max Payne fans among PC gamers are in for a visual treat with Max Payne 3, for which they don't have to wait six more months than console gamers, according to a latest news release by Rockstar. The PC version of Max Payne 3 will not only launch on the same day as its console counterpart (May 29th in North America and June 1st in Europe), but will also feature "gloriously increased resolution and graphical detail in both the epic story and the explosive multiplayer modes." The publisher then went on to release three screenshots from the PC version of the game. It didn't go into much more detail, saying that it will talk about special graphics hardware support and enhancements, as well as system specs a little closer to the game's launch.

Higher resolution images can be accessed at the source.

Why even call this a Max Payne game? It's like something straight out of a crappy Micheal Bay movie.

Screens are pre-rendered.

I don't understand how anyone who has seen Crysis 1 or 2 can call these graphics "glorious". The Max Payne 3 style and level of detail remind me of Modern Warfare 2 - hard contrasts everywhere, low poly count, mediocre textures, bad lighting and unrealistic glass.

Gloriously? Did they move the studio to North Korea to achieve that?

Any sunlit outdoor scene with shadowed areas so dark look just plain wrong. Dice have spoiled us with their Frostbite 2 engine using light probes to simulate global illumination. We gotta see more engines using this technology.

... and hey Rockstar, did you know you can do subsurface scattering in shaders? ... you know, for better looking palm leaves? Guess not.

OMG Crysis was only a good benchamrk mainly, as most could not even run it and those who could had to lower the details anyways.. Never mind the story sucked ass.

M self truely hope the game don't have uber graphics and spent time on a good story and gameplay..

Crysis piece of pos.

Yeah, Crysis was never that impressive gameplay-wise. But i think it's a shame that, in 2012, devs praise their game's graphics when they are just barely close to a 2007 game.
I, too, prefer gameplay over graphics, but Rockstar didn't talk about that, right?

Thing is Rockstar don't really think graphics are every thing thank god. The game in this case looks good and said to have some sweet physics in it too.

As i said there is much more to a game than graphics.

Normally a UBER looking game normally suffers in one or more other ways and RS try to find that balence.

Looking at the screenshots I wasnt impressed at first. However, now I've seen this video about the game machanics I'm definitely impressed.

Watch this video, then make up your mind!

It's like i said it's not just about uber graphics. making a game that have uber graphics gameplay and story is very hard to do as tech moves on with out the game if it takes to long.

I just hope they get it more stable then GTA was when it was released.

It should be. GTA III was more open world, more unscripted CPUs running about adhoc. Whereas Max Payne is more linear. I can't see it needing anything special.

I can remember playing Max Payne 1 on my Celeron II 633Mhz / Geforce 2 MX 64MB and 256MB SDRAM. Medium detail, 1024x768...I might of had a Sempron / 9600Pro by the time MaxPayne 2 came out. Those were the days.

General LeeI've yet to see a good Rockstar PC port. Frankly higher resolution isn't something they should be bragging about.
The port of LA Noire is okay. That was updated with a DX11 patch.

Honestly, the first screenshot looks like a promotional image for a Call of Duty game. :p

This game will be a total failure. The first two MPs were great because of the noire atmosphere and cool voice of the main character, but this game.....hmmm

The game won't be a total failure. Max Payne is a big name, so it will sell well.

The atmosphere and voice will only annoy old school gamers, but the new generation won't remember the "old" Max Payne. Take a look at the video, the game is good! I actually think it might win single player third-person game of the year based on the unique game machanics.

What old school gamers?? The game was released after 2001, or let me guess, old school gamers are the ones who played games before 2000? :D:laugh:

Here is why I loved MP that much:

That was almost 12 years ago. You'd have to be about 23-25+ years old today to remember the old Max Payne.

Today's 12 year olds will say Max Payne who?

I dunno, nostalgia wont net an extra $10 - $20 from me this go 'round. Perhap's i'm becoming more frugal in my elder year's :o

Never really saw any point to paying a premium for anything, got caught up a few time's in the early day's but not so much anymore. I could always wait for one of these young wipper snipper's to buy it, play it, trash it and sell it to me for $30 after a month of useage
