AMD Introduces the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition
Today AMD launched the world's fastest graphics processing unit (GPU), the AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. The AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition uses AMD's innovative Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture to deliver astonishing performance and breathtaking image quality, providing world-class gameplay at the highest resolutions in the most demanding games such as Battlefield 3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and DiRT Showdown.
"The AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition rounds out our award-winning GCN family, providing world-class gameplay thanks to the industry's fastest single GPU," said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, GPU Division, AMD. "Gamers have been hungry for our AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series since our launch last December. We have been able to meet that growing demand as we expanded our AMD Radeon HD 7000 offerings and brought the industry's most advanced graphics across a complete family of leading-edge desktop and notebook graphics cards."The AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition provides ground-breaking GPU compute functionality through advanced AMD App Acceleration technology, allowing users to enjoy lightning-fast gameplay and realistic physics effects3. AMD App Acceleration technology also optimizes common tasks like encrypted file compression and speeds up demanding digital content creation suites, while providing exceptional online video and Blu-ray video experiences3. No other graphics card comes close to the performance and features of the AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition.
The AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition comes fully equipped with 3GBs of ultra-fast GDDR5 frame buffer, AMD Eyefinity 2.0 technology, and support for PCI Express 3.0 and multi-GPU configurations with AMD CrossFire technology.
The AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition will be available as early as next week from add-in board (AIB) partners including ASUS, Gigabyte, HIS, MSI, Sapphire, TUL and XFX starting at USD$499 SEP. For more information, visit the product page.

12.4 and up are far from stable for me, if they work at all. Single GPU, no issues, but multicard took a bit hit for me, which is unfortunate.
SO great, we got some new driver-level BOost, but old stuff is still broken.
THAT alone makes me unhappy with this GHz Edition card.
You just got poked in the eye by AMD. What to do? What to do? I have an idea. Paper Launch the GK110...yes, I know it's lame but the launch of GK104 was hardly better than a paper launch because they were rarer than a sober thought in Linsay Lohan's brains.
If you make that happen then all will be well.

Well anyway, fellow geeks...best to all. I won't bother any of you anymore with my thoughts. I failed to fit in here. I put all the blame on me.

Hell, I've had no response from people who won my contents for a few days. lol
Relax. Lots of laid back people on TPU. ;)
+1 internets for you all! :)
Am I aware!?! Is a bear aware that the Pope shits in a silver pan?
I know that one makes zero sense. Just wiggle room for my diatribe.
Why the low ASIC quality? Are these Tahiti cores that didn't make the grade to be 7970s are were meant to be sold as 7950s due to TDP constraints not being met? The higher voltages tell me that these didn't qualify as 7970s. Even the idle voltage us up by 100mv.
Show me a 7970 that can't do "GHz Edition" speeds at STOCK voltage? And that will be $50 less, thank you very much. AMD is taking their shitty cores and, instead of selling at a lower price, selling at a premium.
Fuck you AMD, fuck you very much:slap:
@Desert Eagle : Few things ...
1) Learn to use the mutli-quote and edit features so you don't double/triple post. If in the heat of discussion you do it accidentally, ask a section mod to merge them. Then we will know it was just a mistake.
2) You being the crud of the universe has not been verified. :D
You are, however, welcome to post your opinions here on TPU as long as they are on-topic. You may get trashed for them, but we all do sometimes. Don't let it get under your skin.
3) If you need anything or have questions, feel free to PM me or any other moderator. We're here to help. :toast:
Carry on ........
I think that the GHz Editions are getting lost in the crowd.
