Samsung Expands its Memory Card Line
Samsung Electronics America Inc., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, today announced an expanded line of advanced SD and microSD cards with the introduction of a new Pro Series line featuring cards with capacities up to 64 GB and transfer speeds up to 80 MB per second.
Available now, the new cards are currently on display at PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. These new memory cards offer added performance benefits for photographers looking to capture high-quality images, or for mobile users looking to expand the storage capacity and life of their smartphone or tablet device.
The new Pro Series cards expand Samsung's line-up of memory card products, joining new High Speed Series and Plus Extreme Speed Series - both of which include cards with capacities up to 32 GB. Also at the PhotoPlus Expo, Samsung will exhibit its full line of Digital Imaging products, including new NX lenses joining the growing NX family of compact system cameras and SMART compact point-and-shoot models with built-in Wi-Fi.
"Samsung's memory cards offer reliability for the content that matters most to you - whether it's keeping stunning images and video shot with a digital camera or camcorder, or saving movies and music to a smartphone or tablet device," said Reid Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Mobile Entertainment, Samsung Electronics America. "With the introduction of even larger capacities and faster speeds, Samsung is delivering high-quality products that complement the mobile and entertainment-rich lifestyles of our customers."
Pro Performance, Premium Package
Samsung's new Pro Series SD and microSD memory cards are designed and built with premium durability and superb performance. Sporting a unique high-end design, the Pro Series memory cards enhance the overall aesthetic of the card, giving them a premium look, while also giving users peace of mind, as each new card is designed to be water resistant, shockproof (up to 3,200 lbs.), and magnet proof (up to 10,000 gauss ). This level of durability ensures users will be able to carry their memory cards in a variety of grueling weather conditions, allowing them to tackle picture taking in the world's most difficult situations or take music and entertainment to remote and rugged terrains. Samsung's memory cards also feature an eye-catching horizontal design, adding to their premium style and making them easier to identify.
With Ultra High Speed transfers up to three times faster than standard memory cards, the new Pro Series SD and microSD memory cards are ideal for writing and storing video from 3D and HD camcorders and enthusiast-level interchangeable lens cameras. Read speeds go up to an impressive 80 MB per second, ensuring users can quickly access their data, and with write speeds up to 40 MB per second images and video can be captured in quick succession.
Continued Quality at High and Extreme Speeds
Samsung's High Speed and Plus Extreme Speed memory cards complete the line-up of SD and microSD products, and feature a performance boost. Available in 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB size capacities, the High Speed Series and Plus Extreme Speed Series of memory cards offer transfer speeds up to 24 MB per second and 48 MB per second, respectively.
As with the Pro Series, the High Speed and Plus Extreme Speed memory cards can survive up to 24 hours in water, withstand the force of a 1.6-ton vehicle (3,200 lbs.), and resist up to 10,000 gauss (slightly less than the power of a medical imaging magnet).
