And so far, I'd say things are going exactly as rumored. While the price is quite steep, I still see enough enthousiasts buying this. With that price, it doesn't really matter whether volume is low, they'll make a profit anyway.

I'm hoping this is just a case of a few stores trying to get insane prices/profits from a new product and not the actual prices, because those prices are crazy for what this is.

Enthusiasts should be given these chips to overclock for advertisement. The price is ridiculously high.

I wonder what people would think if AMD came out with an even higher clocked 7970 and charged Titan prices for it even though it's performance doesn't match it?

holy outrageous price batman! intels chips at this price are a ripoff, but at least they have something the others dont, namely 6 cores and a massive l3 cache. but this is literally the same as the eight core chip, just clocked faster. what enthusiast would pay for this?

If those price are indeed correct all I can say is good luck. You (AMD) will give more out as review samples than you would have as private purchases.

OT the prices are over the top ,I can't see them selling many if this is true, it's in epeen / nitrogen jocky territory and beyond a reasonable purchase , id buy a 750 watt phase changer, 8350, mobo and mem for that 1000 $.

I wouldn't be surprised if actual price was $3xx for them they are selling them WOF. There is no reason for a price like that especially if they were only planning to sell it oem only. The 9590 has already dropped to $920 on the website so crazy speculation is my guess.

thats got to be a website with wishful thinking and overcharging for pre orders, AMD FX processors havent seen those price levels since A64 and the original AMD FX when amd where bitch slapping intel. even die hard AMD Fans wouldnt pay that on a chip where we can just about reach those levels with the FX 8350.

Coz people like to complain, lol. This chip isn't for people like us(by us I mean people building/tweaking their own hardware), we're much better off just buying an 8350 or even 8320 and overclocking it ourselves. Instead this chip is for those people spending big money on a monster system which they can just put there and enjoy. Those systems are usually geared towards high-performance anyway, with awesome cooling, and more often than not they get overclocked by the seller aswell. For those cases, paying a premium for something that is guaranteed to run at a high clock, with full warranties and the such is just "common sense".

For everyone here going on about either the price or the TDP; what do you care lol. The rest of the CPU's on the market didn't all of a sudden get worse compared to what they were before this was announced, and the 8350 will retain the same price/quality it had. Nothing changes, apart from some system builders/(rich)enthousiasts gaining another option, and AMD potentially generating a tiny bit of extra revenue(with attention probably being their biggest gain here).
