Toshiba Introduces the Q Series Pro Solid State Drives

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the Toshiba Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State Drive. This new high performance drive upgrade for PCs provides consumers with a reliable and convenient way to increase productivity and offers safe storage for all personal data. Ideal for consumers who need to boost their PC storage performance to the next level, Toshiba's Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State drive is an efficient storage solution that offers faster boot-up and operation for the PC.

Pricing and Availability
The Toshiba Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State drive will be available for purchase at select retailers and on Toshiba.com in late October 2013. The 128 GB model will be $159.99 MSRP, the 256 GB model will be $309.99 MSRP, and the 512 GB model will be $739.99 MSRP.

Why are those prices so high? They can't be much faster than current offerings, given the limitations of SATA 600. And why don't they list those performance specs? Hope these are better than their hard drives...

I don't think those prices are correct (at least not in Asia), if these are the same drives as their THNSNH series that's been selling for a while now (rebrand), then these should be offering very high performance for a very low price. well, in theory at least. but who knows, prices in north America never made much sense.

MSRP pricing is just a spoof. Street prices will be whatever it takes to be competitive. Supply and demand determines street price. This PR looks more like just hype than anything special about these SSDs.
