AMD Releases Chipset Drivers 17.10 WHQL with Ryzen Balanced Power Plan

AMD today released its latest platform core-logic (chipset) drivers for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. The new version 17.10 WHQL chipset drivers are particularly important for AMD Ryzen platform users, as it installs a new Windows power-management plan called "Ryzen Balanced Power." This plan is better than the "Balanced" power plan Windows ships with, in that it hands over more power-management from the OS over to the silicon-level SenseMI power-management logic of Ryzen processors, which has more fine-grained voltage and clock-gating over cores, and which would otherwise cause latency issues with OS-level power-management using P-state triggers. The power plan is detailed at length in our older article. The power-plan is installed on machines with AMD A320, B350, and X370 chipsets. Grab the drivers from the link below.

I wonder if this power plan turns off or overrides Windows power plan settings? at least it will give you a good blend of pwer and performance when needed as opposed to being in high performance mode all the time to get the best out of Ryzen.

These were actually released on the 20th. My understanding also is that if you are overclocking or plan to, you need to set up your power plan at default settings in BIOS and make sure that minimum processor state is 5% before you do any overclock. If you don't do this at stock speeds there are a lot of people reporting that Ryzen will not downclock at low CPU usage levels.

I like that they still support Win7 and 8.1 for Ryzen. Cudos to AMD!

Scrolling thru TPU front page as you do, whatdashitlimpbizkit - this! So, you say no need for M$'s bloatware* W10, can be postponed indefinitely since this stuff also comes to W7? Awesome sh1t, thanx bta.

*Until that Creators Edition update comes & i hope i'll be able to customize entire installation the way i want. :)
