AMD Ryzen Threadripper Review Kit Unboxing Leaked

The team at Sweclockers have already received their Threadripper review kit. We know this because there was a short-lived video uploaded by the team, unboxing and perusing the contents of one of AMD's delicious Threadripper review kits. Videocardz, however, managed to snag some screenshots of the act, and that content is what we are bringing to you now. Also, kudos for that Dinklebot shirt - that wizzard might have come from the moon, but ours certainly hasn't.
On to the contents, and AMD did a pretty nice, premium job overall. It appears that each Threadripper review sample will come with a dummy Threadripper die with the name of the reviewing publication laser-engraved on it - that is an elegant, tasteful piece of marketing right there. In the images, we don't get to see the Asetek retention it that will be shipping with Threadripper CPUs, but we do see that there is a Torx key bundled for Threadripper installation - which makes sense, considering the pricing and premium positioning of these.

Pauls Hardware yesterday had video about Thredripper - where he unboxed it (from that wierd ass box) and showed how to put in the x399 socket (even more wierd ass socket, there were a plastic bracket for cpu that you slide in and then only close and fasten with torx screws)... I thought to my self - ok, lets begin - now give me some numbers :D... but video is no longer there :( maybe I was just trippin' ?

He said on twitter that that was a miscommunication with AMD, and that he was breaking the NDA, so he had to pull it.

So how was MSI allowed to keep their installation video? Anyways now it seems like all the youtubers have uploaded the unboxing videos.

Good question. They are seemingly numbered, too.

Meh, looks like cheap plastic copy, but it isn't small, either.

I'm enjoying this, TBH. Seems AMD has sent out quite the package, but they forgot the VGAs! Or did they....? :P

Damn, AMD is throwing these around like keychains. Everyone gets one just to sit on their desk, seriously?

Only those puppets that will do exactly as AMD asked to get a kit. You'll probably see that most of these unboxing things are exactly the same... yeah, there is likely a reason. :P It pretty hilarious.

What are you talking about? You people will literally find any reason to trash AMD. I was just making a joke for Christ sake. The reason it's the same is because they are all unboxing the freaking same thing!

So how much different do you think these unboxings should be? Should they use blowtorches to melt the box away? This is again just starting an argument about nothing. :kookoo:

Yeah, but it would make more sense to me that they show the end user what they get, exactly, without all the added stuff. Because that's ultimately what they are doing, showing the product to potential end users. The whole dribbling out of information "to build hype" and generate hits often does more harm than good. That has NOTHING to do with AMD, actually.

Like, just spill all the beans already. :p

And no offense, but I think you over-reacted. o_O

It's legit Pelican. Watch the video and he accidentally shows the Pelican paperwork underneath the foam insert.
