Razer today has also announced a revamp of their Blade Stealth laptop, which sees the introduction of the latest generation of Intel processors. The new Razer Blade Stealth features the i7-8550U processor - a quad-core, Hyper Threading (HT) enabled processor that brings eight threads to bear - albeit clocked at a low 1.8 GHz base and a staggering 4.0 GHz max single-core Turbo. This means this is the first version of the Razer Blade Stealth to sport such a core configuration, which should aid in both gaming and production environments. Don't let yourself be fooled, though - the 8th Gen here doesn't mean Coffee Lake. Intel has done all of us the favor of mixing things up a little, and their mobile 8th Gen architecture is actually "Kaby Lake Refresh".Most of the other specifications are in-line with previous Blade Stealth iterations; 16 GB of 2133 MHz DDR4 memory, a 13.3" 3800 x 1800 IGZO touchscreen display, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3 (for external graphics dock or display), 2x USB 3.0 ports, and Killer Wireless-AC 1535 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Besides the increased core count, the other relevant change here the revised HDMI interface, which has been updated to revision 2.0. Apparently, Razer has moved the minimum SSD ballpark towards a 512 GB unit instead of the previous 256 GB one. This is a product designed to be used in conjunction with the just covered Razer Core V2 - letting all the specs go to waste on a measly Intel HD 620 graphics is somewhat of a disappointment. The introduction of the quad-core, eight-thread i7 8550U should help deliver more benefits from the increased GPU power enabled by the eGPU dock. The new Razer Blade Stealth is available now in the US and Canada from Razer's website, starting at $1,699, and is available in black and gunmetal colors.
