ASUS releases A8Jr (unofficially announces new Mobility graphics)

Taipei, Taiwan, January 22, 2007 - To accommodate the increasing demand on better graphic performance for mobile computing, ASUS presents the A8Jr notebook series incorporated with the latest visual processing capabilities. The slim and lightweight A8Jr will be based on Intel's Core2 Duo processor and will be the world's first notebook series to utilize ATI's Mobility Radeon X2300 GPU for stunning and crisp graphics.

"There is an ever-increasing demand for higher graphic processing power and crisper graphics for entertainment and applications alike," says David Cummings, director of marketing, Graphics Products Group, AMD. "Our answer to that demand is the X2300 GPU. This GPU utilizes patented technology to increase processing power and provide the user with smooth, realistic hi-resolution graphics."

A Visual Feast Like No Other

The new ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 will boost graphical performance, and utilize ATI's HyperMemory memory management technology to deliver enhanced 'performance-per-watt' operations. It will also offer Certified for Windows Vista 3D graphics that supports the visually stunning Windows Aero user interface. This makes the A8Jr deliver smooth and professional performance with current and future 3D-intensive applications and games.

What's more, with ASUS's Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, the A8Jr will integrate different multimedia data sources to reduce noise and conversion rate for a sharp display with better contrast, brightness, skin tone and color saturation for all video applications. Mobile entertainment will be further improved with the notebook's high-definition support capability, and users can enjoy high-quality DVD movies and HD video playback on the go.

Portable Audio/Video Communication

Built-in accessories like the microphone and the high-resolution webcam will make video conferencing hassle-free. Strategically placed speakers at the front end of the notebook will enhance face-to-face communications by focusing on spoken words and limiting distracting sounds.

Direct Multimedia Access

A one-touch entertainment environment will be available with the exclusive Instant Fun PLUS feature - allowing users to just sit back and enjoy the integrated multimedia applications at the fingertips.

Extensive Connectivity

The built-in WLAN 802.11 a/b/g ensures wireless Internet access whenever reception is available. The A8Jr also provides Bluetooth 2.0 EDR - an enhanced data rate that transmits three times faster than the standard Bluetooth, for increased connectivity and synchronization between digital devices. In addition, a complete range of input / output ports that includes 5 USB ports, a S-video TV-out port and express card slots will provide you with dynamic data transfer and storage options.

They're certainly trying to make quite an impact on the notebook market. If I do get a notebook I think I'd chose them, my motherboard from them has been great.

yea, if they offer the laptop with a X2600...I would buy right away. I am in the market for a good solid notebook. I am waiting for Leopard and a refresh of the Apple Macbook Pro.

cheers
