Philips Announces New Version of Brilliance 492P8 Curved Super-wide LCD Monitor

Today EPI, the North American brand license partner for Philips monitors announced that its Philips Brilliance 49-inch 492P8 Curved Super-wide LCD display will be coming to U.S. markets with a new QHD display in Q4 of 2018.

This week, the display earned a 2018 iF Design Award. One of the most important design prizes in the world, iF Design Awards are hosted by the world's oldest design association, iF International Form Design GmbH in Hannover. This award testifies to Philips' commitment to combine increasingly advanced viewing experiences with design excellence.
The display features a 5120x1440 resolution VA panel with an 1800R curvature, up-to 600 nits brightness, up to 5000:1 contrast ratio and 178 degree viewing angles. This award-winning monitor's frameless display is intended to be highly appreciated by users with multi-monitor configurations in finance, engineering, design, audio/video production and other industries who would gladly swap two displays for one super-wide. For connectivity, the monitor features DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C, VGA, USB 3.0 and Ethernet.

iF Design Award with its 63-member jury, made up of independent experts from all over the world, evaluated more than 6,400 candidates from 54 competing countries and praised the immersive design of this giant 49-inch display, which perfectly combines functionality with innovation.

"We are very excited and proud that our Brilliance 492P8 curved display has been recognized by iF Design Award jury. We take this as a confirmation of our outstanding capabilities in innovation and design and continue on our path to provide leading product innovations with dedicated design focus to the market," says David Ray, Marketing Director for North America at EPI.

Not with 5120x1440.
Samsung has their 49 inch gamign monitor with 144hz, but the resolution is basically 4K by 1080 or two 27" glued together. It's a great monitor with FreeSync2, but the verical resolution is just two shallow.

For a second I sat there looking at the second thumbnail thinking "Who the hell uses a dying graphics card with visual artifacts to showcase their monitors?", then I looked closer :D
