Philips Launches the Evnia 32M2N8800 4K 240 Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor

Philips, or rather its brand licence partner MMD—which is a division of TPV—has launched a new gaming monitor under its Evnia brand, namely the 32M2N8800. The model name doesn't really give away much about the specs, but what we're looking at is a 31.5-inch 4K QD-OLED display with a 240 Hz refresh rate. The panel is VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400 certified and ClearMR 13000. Like most displays of this type it has a 10-bit panel with a 0.03 ms grey to grey response time and 99 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. The Evnia display also features a range of gaming mode features like a smart crosshair and various game mode settings. There's also support for picture by picture and picture in picture.

Connectivity wise, it's sadly stuck with DisplayPort 1.4, as well as a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports. There's also a built-in USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) hub with two USB Type-A ports, of which one supports the older USB battery charging 1.2 standard, which delivers 5 V at up to 1.5 A. There's also a 3.5 mm audio output jack and the display is also equipped with Philips' Ambiglow LED backlight on four sides. The stand supports height, swivel and tilt adjustments. The Evnia 32M2N8800 is expected to retail for around US$1000, based on pricing in Hong Kong.

Believe it or not, this was the exact reason I got my Odyssey G8 instead of many other monitors with the same specs.

When I buy a new monitor and it is with such "V" stand, I need a vesa which I need to clamp to the back of my desk somehow, because I need the space on my desk.

Clearly the same:

Samsung Display that manufactures the QD-OLED panels is a separate company from Samsung Electronics. There's no rebranding going on.

That's not the issue, it just takes a lot of desk space underneath the monitor with that V, I need to use that space.

Panels, yes, the rest, no.

TPV is one of the biggest monitor makers in the world and has, as the new post mentions, licensed the Philips brand, but also owns AOC.

I guess the V-shape is weak and makes the display shake pretty easily. This type of construction is not stable.
Nevertheless, the 4K 240Hz screen is better than those 27" FHD 280Hz...

Their 7000 and 8000 series only appear to come in this colour, whatever it is.

Unless it's under that panel on the back, this does not appear to be wall mountable, which is an auto no-buy for me, since ALL 3 of my existing screens are stand-free :D

Nah, it looks wall mountable for sure. You probably need to use a supplied plate.

EDIT: according to the specs at its HK webpage, it indeed has a bracket for VESA mounting.

Between the non RGB layout of OLED screens and the inability to reach the advertised refresh rates without chroma compression, expect a smudge fest when looking at text on these.

"The more you buy, the more you save". :)

31.5-inch 4K QD-OLED display with a 240 Hz refresh rate
27-inch Full HD VA monitor 280 Hz

This is a premium product, designed to tremendously improve your user experience, and give you much more pleasant ergonomics.
Different category.

According to reviewers this isn't the case & the readability is very close to as good as an IPS screen. I think, & would love to be corrected if wrong, that you need to run DSC to reach 4k240, but you don't need to use chroma subsampling. Plus the new 32" 4k QD-OLED panel from Samsung being used in these has a new subpixel layout, which whilst still not being RGB unfortunately, is apparently a big improvement & has been deemed "close enough" by reviewers.

Tim from MUB hasn't mentioned any smudge fest or chroma sub sampling and he's reviewed 4 of these panels so far (technically 5) and a WOLED variant which iirc he said wasn't quite the pick of the litter for text.

Of course they are, and always were. Like with for example memory, there's only a handfull of panel manufacturers everyone else is buying from and repackaging into their own product.

Yes but actually no ;)

I know OLED is the belle of the ball but where are the mini led models? "Philips" announced the Evnia 32M2N6800M back in february and it's yet to make an appearance anywhere :(
