Free Game Alert: Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Faeria Now Available for Free from EPIC Games Store

Another week, another interesting free game being driven upon us by the EPIC Games Store. This time, it's Ubisoft's 345th entry in the Assassin's Creed series: Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Set in 1868 London, smack in the middle of the Industrial Revolution, this is considered to be the title that straightened out the franchise after the ill-received Assassin's Creed Unity, with an overall 76 score in Metacritic.

Also available for free is Faeria, a collectible-card game from developers Abrakam, which has a very respectable 81 score in Metacritic and an average 7.6 user score, putting it ahead of Syndicate in both metrics. Gameplay is often compared to a mix of Catan (with its hex-based, living board) and Heartstone (due to the collectible 300+ cards the game has to offer). It has single-player and PVP modes to scratch your particular craving at the moment, so it might be an interesting (and free) addition to your library.

AC syndicate is the best in the series imo, unless you like grinding RPG games xD

If you have not played any from the series this is a great way :)

Nice! Already had II and Brotherhood, from uplay I got III, Black Flag and Unity for free, won Origins in a guveaway, and now this. Among the launchers I've already got my AC collection. Now only need Revelations. I can do without the first one and the uhm... the greek one.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. Due to your feedback, I actually bothered to create an Epic account just to grab these two freebies.

Even if someone has a grudge against Epic over the exclusives they should sign up for an account anyway. You don't have to spend a penny if you don't want to support Epic. They gave away 73 games last year and they will probably give away a similar amount this year. I've only been taking the games that I think I will play but my list so far is:

Kingdom Come Deliverance
Metro 2033 Redux
Observer
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Batman Arkham Asylum GOY
Batman Arkham City GOY
Batman Arkham Knight
Faster Than Light
Lego Batman The Videogame
Lego Batman 2 Super Heroes
Lego Batman 3 Beyond Gotham
The Wolf Among Us

I would have spent a good bit if I had bought those games so it's well worth taking a couple of minutes to sign up for an account. They even thank you for taking the free games. :)

Heh. You missed subnautica. The first game given away. An absolute gem I tell you.

Go to the Epic Store first and search for the game using the search box. Get it for free. Then use the Epic Game Launcher. Go to your Library and download the game.

I think he's saying EGL forgets installations. Like it forgot my control and Arkham Asylum.

Fortunately playing directly via the exe doesn’t start the launcher.

The only good thing about EGS tbh. It's kinda drm-free (game bundled drm e.g. denuvo notwithstanding). Though Idk if it’s incompetence (not having cart) or a feature.

I never use the Launcher unless downloading a game. So far it's always put a launch icon on my desktop and as you said you can launch the game with the exe in the folder. The only service that has ever failed to put a launch icon on my desktop is the Microsoft Store and they won't even allow you to access the folder that it puts the games in for some dumbass reason. Fortunately I could move the icons from the start menu onto my desktop.

Epic says adding a shopping cart is a long term goal. I don't understand why they don't have one by now. Every other store on the internet that I use has a shopping cart.

The epic launcher is complete crap. They dont have a throttling system or ETA when games are done downloading. You cant transfer a game to another DH/SSD, it doesnt find games. Last time I upgraded the SSD, downloaded some 180gb of games through phone tethering at 20-25mb speeds. It took a few days.
I am not going to complain. I have made close to $400 from the free games. I make more than a few new epic account, get the free games and sell the account on ebay. I buy games on Steam with the money. I wont sell my own Epic account.

I have had no problems backing up the game folders in the epic directory to my server for whenever I do a windows wipe and install. After installing epic and logging in go to the game you want to install and once it starts to download/install pause it and exit epic launcher. Copy over the backup game folder then go back into epic and resume the game download/install. Should state its verifying files.

Definitely not as cut and dry as copying over steam games but at least you can still backup games unlike MS store games.

I will use that method in the future. I dont need to upgrade any SSD for sometime. I cant give you anymore likes but I can send sexy pics of myself if you like.
