Noctua's Upcoming Fanless Passive CPU Cooler Pictured

Noctua revealed their prototype passive cooler at Computex 2019 it weighed in at 1.5 kg and could dissipate 120 W passively or 180 W with quiet case fans. The prototype included mounting for both AM4 and LGA 115x sockets with the cooler able to keep an Intel i9-9900K cool under load. Noctua has been working towards releasing a commercial passive cooler in Q1 2021. This new cooler has recently been pictured by @FanlessTech and is reportedly about to enter mass production. Noctua is likely to announce more information about this new cooler in the coming months.

Knowing noctua based on that roadmap the new nhd15 in black will be out within 5 years. Just in time to replace my current AIO.

randomUserI really hope that fan hub is not dumb 1 signal multiplier.
What else do you think a hub is?
Hub is, by design, a simple repeater.

So there is no point in a hub. There are millions of splitters out there working just fine.
The x8 splitter costs around 3 Eur.

The "smart" hubs are what is really needed.

Just recently i had to buy a crappy NZXT smart hub which can only deal with 3 fans, just because there are no other options available. And it costs 22 eur.

"Last but not least, Noctua displayed two upcoming accessories, both of which should be on the market by the end of the year: An 8 port fan hub will allow users to connect, control and monitor up to 8 PWM and a 24 to 12V step-down converter will make it possible to run all 12V Noctua fans in 24V environments, thus enabling users to operate 40 and 60mm fans like the NF-A4x10 FLX and NF-A6x25 PWM in 24V-based systems such as 3D printers. The converter will support both PWM and voltage-based speed control as well as RPM monitoring."

I always wonder how these large passive coolers would perform if they put two high performance fans on them. I am assuming they would perform well but not as well as the higher fin density coolers.

I love how people hear about a fanless cooler, and immediately want to put fans on it. :wtf:

It is a huge chunk of metal. I wonder how it would perform. At least for me, it isn't about the application but the curiosity of potential performance. I am not going to buy a passive cooler and put fans on it.

A minimal airflow can improve temps a lot. Just put some low rpm fans and you will get better temps and still no noise.
