AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Storms to the Top of PassMark Mobile CPU Leaderboard

AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, the company's flagship mobile processor announced at the 2021 International CES, has stormed to the top of the PassMark mobile CPU leaderboard. The 8-core/16-thread processor, codenamed "Cezanne," is based on AMD's latest "Zen 3" microarchitecture. It tops the charts with 24,039 points, compared to 16,594 points of the Intel Core i9-10980HK, team blue's current flagship in the 45+ W segment. Both the 5900HX and i9-10980HK are unlocked 8-core parts. The 5900HX also ends up 21% faster than AMD's previous mobile flagship, the Ryzen 9 4900HS, and 25% faster than the 4800H. Intel's upcoming 8-core "Tiger Lake" mobile processor, due for the second half of 2021, has its task cut out.

Hmm, Intel mobile flagship is tested with only 2.4GHz. I think in reality AMD mobile is slower when compared in same frequencies with Intel mobile.

If <something-something> AMD is slower. (c) pathetic state of the blue world

I blame failed Fab nodes for that.

Or Maybe Passmark is showing the base frequency for the intel cpu, rather than the average effective frequency (since laptops have a hard time to sustain their turbo clocks)

Just look on pictures with table of results. There is no info for what frequency of 5900HX in test. I'm sure that in reality both AMD@Intel work limited because of laptop cooling, but Intel is better when compared in same frequency.

No! 2.4GHz look picture in article. 200MHz more than base.

because I showed the 10870H, the base clock of the 10980HK is 2.4Ghz. Intel 10th gen has a lower IPC than zen3, it's been proven several times

They don't need to if AMD products never make it into Laptop or in a config people actually want.

Ya a lot of this. And end result is laptop manf not implementing dual channel, or a decent screen, and/or etc. etc. But at the same time one should still see more laptops around with AMD chips, which makes me think they are short on those also. I recall seeing lots of A8, A10, A12 chips in laptops even a few years ago, more than I do with ryzen chips.
