AMD Radeon RX 6700 Series to Launch on March 18

AMD is expected to launch its Radeon RX 6700 XT performance-segment graphics card on March 18, 2021, according to French tech publication Cowcotland. This would put the launch over two weeks after NVIDIA's February 25 launch of the GeForce RTX 3060. The new RX 6700 series is expected to compete against the RTX 3060 series, and debuts the new 7 nm "Navi 22" silicon that's based on the RDNA2 architecture, and features 40 compute units (2,560 stream processors). The card comes with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit wide memory bus, much like the RTX 3060. Cowcotland expects availability of the RX 6700 XT to be "very limited" at launch. Who knew?

ThimblewadWafers don't work like that.
And what do you mean by that? Navi 22 die is smaller than navi 21, so you can put more of them on the same wafers.

Gosh, “limited availability”, so that’s why the price multiplied on any e-commerce platforms or even in stores. If that’s true those miners spare no effort on buying laptops equipped with RTX 3060 or its equivalent of AMD, then my plans of getting a new one will be spoiled.

moobWhy not both?
Because scalping wouldn't be a thing if idiots people didn't buy from them.

Legacy-ZAIndeed, this is true, however, it is as you said, won't save them from scalpers and I am sure there will be some in mining rigs.

I am a very sour person at this point in time, I have been waiting for 3 years for this specific generation. Why so long you ask? Well, a very crap story, maybe I'll tell it one day if people are interested. :)
I am, I wanna hear it? , Ive been waiting for the moment AMD Finally had MORE ROPS IN A GPU THAN FUKKIN 64 ROPS, (RUMORED ON TEH FURY X to be 128 ROPS and we got 64 :( WTF AMD? Now they have 128 ROPS (FINALLY :), AMD, BUT WHAT TOOK SO FUKKIN LONG GUYS??)

"WATHC VIDEO" PLZ TRUTH HERE! ****************
**********************************

except for the RX 6800 (NON XT MODEL) 60CUs 3840 shaders and 240 tmus (i think) & 96 ROPS) VS 128 on 6800XT & 6900XT ??? but should have been 64 CU's, WHY 60? AMD??? basicaly an Fury-x/ Vega 64 Replacement??? tehn 6700 XT should be a 60CU-56 CU (VEGA 56 Replacement?? But now AMD FUKKED THIS LAUNCH UP AGAIN!!! C'MON AMD I WANT YOU TO WIN (THO UR PRICES ARE GETTING BULLSH!T)

the 6800XT & 6900XT both have 128 ROPS// ($ and only cuz i got my $1200usd Stimulous i Bought an RX 6800XT of ebay for $1049.99 (+taxes and Shipping it was $1100) :( but considering the sclapers and miners getting bad plus VERY LOW STOCK :( I had to get it while i could before prices got worse, not u cant even get a RX 6800 (NON-XT) Navi21 XL gpu for $1100>?? :( so im glad i did get my 6800XT when i did!!! im happpy with it!!

"www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/?mfgr=AMD&memtype=GDDR6&tdp=300 W&sort=name"

only the shaders count & the TMU's Count are cut doen on the 6800XT (but especially every thing is cut down on the 6800 (NAVI21 XL) 60 ROPS, low TMU and Shaders (3840 shaders why/ should been 4096 on 6800 for supposed MSRP of 579.99???) too cut down for 580usd?? and too close to 6800XT's MSRP (THOS MSRP IS NON-EXISTANT ATM)

but Nvidia nearfing MINING On RTX 3060???? I smell some rotten Nvidia BULLSH!T??? HERE ID THE TRUTH? FROM THIS GUY BELOW!!!

What are you talking about? The difference between the number of ROPs and TMUs don't indicate the level of performance across multiple architectures.

Vega 64: 64 CUs, 256 TMUs, 64 ROPs. RX 5700 XT: 40 CUs, 160 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and 20% more performance with a 30% smaller power consumption.

its always , as an example. (ALL MAX CONFIGS,TOP DIES)

(FIJI XT - FURY-X, WAS Rumored to have 128 ROPS By TPU) @ Pre-Launch rumor of Fury-X) would have been a way better gpu @ the time if it had 128 ROPS)

Fiji XT - 64 ROPS - 4096 shaders - 256 tmu's (HIGH-END FLAGSHIP)

Polaris 20 - 32 ROPS - 2304 shaders -144 tmus (was a lower end chip)

Vega 56 - 64 ROPS - 3584 shaders - 224 tmu's (Midrange/HIGH-END) cut down die
vega 64 - 64 ROPS - 4096 shaders - 256 tmu's (HIGH-END FLAGSHIP)

(R VII (DONT COUNT) 7nm vega with eff. improvements)

Navi10 (XTX/XT/ & XL) RX 5000 Series

Navi10 XT - 64 ROPS - 2560 shaders - 160 tmus _(256Bit GDDR6) (RX 5700 XT) Midrange High-End
Navi 10 XL - 64 ROPS - 2304 shaders -144 tmus _(256Bit GDDR6) (RX 5700 XT) Midrange Midrange
Navi 10 XLE - 64 ROPS - 2304 shaders -144 tmus _(192bit GDDR6) (RX 5600 XT) Midrange Entry Level

Other Navi (Navi 14) Low end, Entry level 1080p/Low)
32 Rops - 1536 Shaders - 96 TMUS

Navi21 (RX 6000 Series)

#1:) 128 ROPS - 5120 shaders - 320 tmu's (HIGH-END FLAGSHIP) _( RX 6900 XT) (Navi21 XTX)
#2:) 128 ROPS - 4608 shaders - 288 tmu's (HIGH-END Midrange) _( RX 6800 XT) (Navi21 XT)
#3:) 96 ROPS - 3840 shaders - 240 tmu's (HIGH-END Entry Level) _( RX 6800 XT) (Navi21 XT)

Navi 22 - so we go from 60 Compute units (96 ROPS - 3840 shaders - 240 tmu's) on RX 6800 (NON XT) To......
to....------------------------ 40 Compute units (64 ROPS - 2560 shaders -160 tmus) thats a big drop or big gap between an RX 6800 & an RX 6700XT)
(WHER IS A Navi22 GPU WITH 56 Compute units and 72 ROPS ??
6700 Xt Flagship should be... 72 ROPS - 3584 shaders - 224 tmu's is what 230w tdp NAvi 22 XTX should be!

** this is my POINT****
so from bottom Navi 21 GPU (60 =CU's) to (Top of Navi22 XTX,XT) to (40CUS ) so where is a 56CU variant of Navi22??? s what im asking????

navi 22 XTX/XT 225w TDP Variant SHOULD BE A "VEGA 56" LAYOUT in CU count ( NOT what u thought i said)
(Vega 56 - 64 ROPS - 3584 shaders - 224 tmu's this ANVI22 layout would be better than a 40 CU Navi22 but be much Lower Power than a Vega 56 with same core configuration!!! THAT IS WHAT I MEANT!!!!

IF THESE CONFIGS ARE ALL WE GET FROM NAVI22 THEN THIS IS LAME AS,F
#1:) 64 ROPS - 2560 shaders - 160 tmus ( RX 6700 XT) (Navi22 XT-#1) 230w TDP
#2:) 64 ROPS - 2304 shaders -144 tmus ( RX 6700 XT) (Navi22 XT-#2) 189w TDP
#3:) 64 ROPS - 2304 shaders -144 tmus ( RX 6700 ) (Navi22 XLT ) 120w - 150w TDP* (* ESTIMATED) )

*PS* OR Navi22 XT (6700 XT #1)
#1:) 72 ROPS - 3583 shaders - 224 tmus ( RX 6700 XT) (Navi22 XT-#1) 225w TDP( ALL ESTIMATED AND NOT ACCURATE) JUST AN EXAMPLE!!!

Navi 23 ??? 120w
Unknown

but Most likely JUNK GPUS LOW ROPS. TMUs ETC...
A 5600Xt would be similar or better then Navi 23 Entry level GPU!

1. No need to be angry. Chill. :)

2. You're right, that's a big drop between the 6700 XT and 6800. Whether the drop in real-world performance is going to be equally big, we'll see soon. Like we both established, the number of components don't necessarily correlate with gaming performance. If you look at the drop between the 6800 (non-XT) and the 6900 XT, you'll see a 25% reduction in shader count, but about 15% in real-world performance. Don't judge a book by its cover.

3. Don't forget about the architectural improvements of Navi 2. With the same shader/ROP/TMU count as the 5700 XT, the 6700 XT is still going to be faster. And the 5700 XT is still a decent 1080-1440p card.

4. There's still no need to be angry.

MysteoaAnd what do you mean by that? Navi 22 die is smaller than navi 21, so you can put more of them on the same wafers.
No. All of the wafers are the same. Then they just have certain parts of it disabled. They don't make wafers for each card man.

Navi 22 is not a disabled Navi 21 die, it's an entirely different die. Similar to GA102 vs GA104 on Nvidia side.

AusWolf"availability of the RX 6700 XT to be "very limited" at launch" - I guess I'll stick to my 5700 XT and its rattling fan a while longer.

Oh, and before blaming the scalpers, why don't we blame the people who buy from them?
Give you $200 cnd for it when you sell it ;)
