Noctua Presents NA-TPG1 Thermal Paste Guard for AMD AM5

Noctua today announced its new NA-TPG1 thermal paste guard for AMD's latest AM5 based Ryzen processors. When the mounting pressure of the cooling solution is applied, excess thermal paste will be squeezed outwards. With AM5 CPUs, this excess paste tends to accumulate in the cut-outs at the sides of the heat-spreader and may become difficult to remove. Simple and risk-free to apply, the NA-TPG1 prevents this undesired phenomenon.

"While there's no denying that AMD's new Ryzen 7000 processors perform fantastic, we found that the cut-outs at the side of the heat-spreader tend to attract thermal paste that can be challenging to clean off" says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "This is where our new thermal paste guard steps in: it's a simple yet highly effective tool for keeping your new Ryzen 7000 series CPU nice and clean."
Made from highly heat-resistant polycarbonate and forming a tight seal around the edges of the CPU's heat-spreader, the NA-TPG1 is simple and risk free to apply and remove. Despite its simplicity, it is highly efficient at preventing thermal paste from accumulating in the cut-outs at the sides of AM5 CPUs.

The NA-TPG1 will be available in a separate set with ten NA-CW1 cleaning wipes (NA-STPG1) as well as with new AM5 editions of Noctua's award-winning NT-H1 and NT-H2 thermal pastes. All three products are scheduled to become available in December.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price will be EUR/USD 7.90 for the NA-STPG1, EUR/USD 9.90 for the NT-H1 3.5 g AM5 Edition and EUR/USD 13.90 for the NT-H2 3.5 g AM5 Edition. For more information, visit this page.

zlobbyCredit cards work well for me.

My experience shows that if you get between 0.5-1mm of the paste sploodging out after you mount and tighten the coldplate, you've done a great job.
I always found them a bit too thick for good control

The non-serrated sides of the condom wraps are also a good emergency 'measure'.

Well never trust protection you don't know where came from.

If it's from the bar with the lady or from the lady they can both been tapered with the protection.

So you dem be ready for the extra thick (heat resistance up to 155 instead of the current 130 degrees Celsius), ultra lubricated (hydrophobic coating, even more easy to clean) and the dual-action vibrate (alarms you when leakage occurred) versions as well.

Well if it makes good enough contact with the IHS it should be able to bleed off some heat when you put a fan on it. /s

Hey now! My full nickel plated EK block with RGB is “great” the RGB is just the tiny logo in the corner. Trust me when I couldn’t remove it I almost just cut the wire…

That sounds interesting. Do you have a picture of that?

when i get my zen4 i will do a 3D printed version and upload it for the world.

this is clearly a solution looking for a problem, cashing in on OCD people that will clearly will not be able to sleep knowing their paste will lodge in the cutouts where NO ONE CAN SEE THEM and where they POSE NO ISSUE (unless you use conductive paste and gobs of it)

Based on photos of poorly executed paste jobs, I'm guessing that people who aren't very dextrous will benefit from this tool. There are a few people on this site who might want to consider buying one of these.

This also might be handing for those who paste CPUs frequently. Freehanding the thermal paste takes a little more time.

Pastry chefs have similar templates for a variety of usages (tuiles, chocolate, etc.). While this can all be freehanded, if you have to do a lot, the time adds up. I've seen stencils in other crafts as well, this sort of thing has a long history.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if something like this is being used on the assembly line by OEMs and system builders to speed up the process.

Um, it's the wipes that are wrapped to prevent them from drying out like single-use hand towelettes that some restaurants include with take-out orders.

The paste wipes have alcohol in them.

I've never visited SE Michigan, didn't know they were such a rarity there.

Right, right, I knew that. To clean off excess paste.

Yes thats a rarity in them.

There are alcohol cleaning wipes in your typical first aid kit. These are also packaged the same way, in individual wrapped single-use envelopes.

Again, not sure if SE Michigan has such things.

These towelettes are very common in some places like Japan. Pretty much any coffee shop or convenience store has them.

Hell, I've received a few cleaning wipes with m.2 SSD heatsinks or something.

Noctua often includes a few wipes in their retail boxed NT-H1 and NT-H2 thermal pastes.

I think it "depends" on how much thermal leakage there is.

ebivanSo what? Let it fill the space in between. Why bother at all? All my CPUs have residue on the sides of the heatspreader, ist doent not matter at all, as long as the upper surface is clean when applying new grease.

I guess this is for those folks who RGB-illuminate their cases and put their GPUs in the window to compensate for their small p... -I mean power supplies!
Jesus christ dude, projecting much! If someone wants to have a clean CPU, let them have a clean CPU, wtf is the big deal. God this site is full of negative egotistical dweebs.
