AMD Software Adrenalin 23.4.2 WHQL Released

AMD today released the latest version of its Adrenalin drivers. Version 23.4.2 WHQL adds optimization for "Dead Island 2" and "Boundary." With "Dead Island 2," one can expect up to 14 percent improved performance at when measured with RX 7900 series GPUs; and up to 15% increase in performance at 4K when measured with RX 6000 series GPUs. Among the handful issues fixed with this release include blocky water corruption with "Red Dead Redemption 2" when using the Vulkan API, missing text in Google Earth VR, intermittent application crashes after enabling render previews in Unreal Engine 5, and an installer bug that caused a black screen to appear on some display configurations after a driver update.

This version fixes a few crashes I had with 23.4.1 in relation to video playback in FF and crashes after exiting some games. So far so good.

I believe that is what caused my instability with the new drivers prior to 23.4.1. 23.4.1 was the first driver that actually worked since combining the old and new cards into one driver. I'm about to install this new one and I'll let you know shortly.

Update - Nope Factory Reset is still greyed out.

thanks for sharing! it's my personal preference to always use that. so it's a bit disturbing how a built in feature to basically wipe out the old/current driver and related settings prior to installing the new one caused problems for anyone.

did this muck up your RX 6900 XT working well? or what kind of instability are you referring to, like driver timeouts and crashes for example? I have a different model (reference), but I am just curious because I didn't fall victim to any of the complications others have spoken about. I am wondering if anyone connected dots that certain vendors/brands or models were more susceptible to the issues?

PS - I haven't seen anything from AMD other than what looked like an initial statement of that they have recieved a number of reports that has given them reason to remove the feature while they investigate and look closer into what could have contributed to the issues.

Ah ok, yes I've had some crashes straight to boot screen in Firefox watching YT videos for no reason with 6800XT. I hope this helps.

I believe I should have left well enough alone... The problem I have is when playing World of Warcraft, I get this random freezes. These freezes could appear as a simple .5 second skip to a full 1-1.5 second freeze and this started again with 23.4.2. No other game or program has had any instabilities noticed except for in WoW.
