Why would you want this instead of cycling outdoors in fresh air? I imagine this must be nearly as much physical effort as a real bike race, so while you're at it, you might as well do it properly.

Yes you're right of course, it's better to bike outside, but I do think it's a good idea.
(use it for training, in very bad weather etc ...)

A fair point. If you live in an extremely rainy or cold place, I guess... otherwise, it's just a typical Thermaltake product: 10/10 in idea and innovation, 0 in usefulness and practicality.

because of the weather mostly

But could be for an insane amount of reasons:
if you live in a big city, your house's air is "fresher" then driving outside near cars
you can ride and stay with your family for quality time at the same time
the "fresh" air is miles away
dangerous roads near you
etc...

I don't get what makes this a "cycling desk"? any desk is a cycling desk. You could de the exact same thing without a desk. Idiotic marketing if you ask me.

Even in India here many cities it is getting dangerous to ride on roads even during daytime. I do use cycle for daily commute but there are some roads which I avoid due to high speed traffic and overall negligence from drivers towards pedestrians and cyclists(there are idiots who drive and park on footpaths and cycle lanes making it very difficult to use them).

that's a real bike, you just take the back wheel and put it on the roller. Put back the wheel go out on the streets.

I still don't quite get it. Why do we have to imitate life when we have life waiting for us at our doorstep (quite literally)?

That's different, golf is an expensive sport. Well, bike racing is too, but so is this "biking desk", I think.

Yeah, but if I want to burn cash on cycling, I do it with the real thing, not the living room imitation.

Like KrazyT already told, that's just a add on, that's just like using your gaming PC to watch a movie. You have to buy the movie, but the cost of the PC is already spent.
You realisticly only need the roller and a subscription to whatever service you use. Everyone already has a pc and a tv and some place to put the tv on

and this is cycling, just like running on one of those running things in the gym (idk the name in english) is real running. Oh believe me it's real, you fell the burn :D

I know it's real, but why would I pay money to do it in a foul-smelling sweaty gym when I can do it outside on fresh air for free (sure, I need the equipment, running shoes, etc, but that's besides the point)? :D

Are they really? Yeah, I know: "That's what I have a problem with?"
But it's said that way for all of them, isn't it? They can't all be number 1...

I wasn't aware cycling eSports was a thing.
Must be getting big because that's the only angle I see working here (home fitness demo would be more geared to Peloton, Echelon etc).

Nobody is forcing you to buy it. It's always good to have options. Not everyone has access to safe outdoor environments.

Do I think the marketing idea of this desk is poor? Absolutely!
