AOC and MMD Announce Key Leadership Change in European Operations

AOC and MMD, leading display specialists, today announced a significant leadership transition in their European operations. MMD, the brand license partner for Philips Monitors, and AOC, a premier brand in the display market, are both part of TPV Technology Limited, one of the world's leading monitor manufacturers. Thomas Schade, who has served as Vice President Europe at MMD B.V. and AOC B.V. since 2009, will be stepping down from his role. He has been instrumental in establishing and expanding the presence of both the AOC and Philips monitor brands across Europe. Under his leadership, AOC and MMD have achieved significant market growth and brand recognition with leading positions in Europe.

As of 1 September 2024, Stefan Sommer, currently Director Marketing & Business Management EU at TPV, will succeed Thomas Schade as Vice President Europe, taking over the leadership of the Monitors Business Unit in Europe for both brands. Thomas Schade will continue to work in the organisation during the transition period until the end of the year to coordinate - together with Stefan Sommer - the transfer of responsibilities. Stefan Sommer, who has been with AOC since 2006 and joined MMD in 2011, brings extensive experience and a proven track record in the display industry to his new role. Reflecting on the transition, Thomas Schade stated, "It's been an honour to contribute to AOC and MMD's growth over the past decade and a half. I'm confident that the team will continue to achieve great results under Stefan's leadership."
Stefan Sommer expressed his gratitude, saying, "On behalf of the entire organisation, I want to extend our deepest thanks to Thomas for his outstanding leadership and the tremendous success he has brought to our European operations. His contributions have been invaluable, and we are grateful for his dedication."

Sommer continued, "As I take on the role of VP Europe, I'm committed to continuing our growth path in this challenging market together with our long-term partners. We've consistently pushed the boundaries of display technology. In this new capacity, I look forward to driving new technologies and strong innovations, working alongside our talented team to maintain our tradition of industry leadership."

This transition reflects the commitment of AOC and MMD ensuring continuity in their strategic vision for the European market.

Well you can't even get replacement parts for some Philips TVs and monitors right after the warranty period ended, even if you are willing to pay for it. So yeah that's a bummer for me.
