Manhunt 2 Changes for M Rating Outlined

When Rockstar studios decided that an AO rating on their gory creation Manhunt 2 wasn't going to get any sales, they had to take some of the more gratuitous gore out of their game. Hardcore Manhunt fans will be pleased to hear that the game itself remains largely untouched. However, stealth-kills were "heavily tweaked visually, adding a blur effect and darkening sequences to obscure violent viewpoints". Gamers will also not see the infamous "testicle ripping scene". Manhunt 2 is on track for a Halloween release.

I think offering both version would be a very good idea, IMO. I know I would buy the AO version if it was available.

Only problem with that is, Nintendo and Sony basically don't let any AO games on their systems (hence, the original conundrum).

I wouldn't buy it for the console anyway. :) Perhaps they should just release the AO version for the PC then.

Though there has been some AO games released on Sony consoles, Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude "Uncut" was released with an AO rating on the PS2, though the "uncut" version never made it to the US.

I don't think it is that Sony won't allow it, I just think the game producers don't do it because they don't want to get protested by uptight soccer moms that think just because they don't like something no one should be allowed to enjoy it.

Well we sure as hell don't want kids playing AO games...

Only thing I'm wondering is do any stores like EB Games and Gamestop sell AO games? Seems like AO games must be purchased online. If this is the case, I say good call by Rockstar to compromise with ESRB. Why? I think the AO rating would have killed Manhunt's sells and thus destroy a great franchise. :toast:

I bet this game would get MORE sales with AO rating. I'm not buying it now. The only reason I'd have bought this game in the first place was because of the AO. It doesn't seem very interesting in the first place. F U rockstar for selling your souls to the pussies at ESRB. (But thanks for GTA :))

Yeah i bet, MAYBE they should of done a M or less for consoles and let us keep our lovely blood and gore for the PC version lol.

ESRB should not had a problem with it if there is a rating of AO they should of not applied pressure on Rockstar.

By you saying it doesn't seem very interesting implies that you haven't yet played the first Manhunt. Manhunt was an awesome game, the way you killed people was pretty crazy anyway, I wouldn't want to see it get much worse.

Wtf? Testicle ripping? I don't think it's been done in a game before. The infamous testicle rip would have been the selling factor to me to buy the game...

http://www.sumodownload.com/2007/09/03/uncenssored-manhunt-2-okayed-by-dutch-law/Europe, on the other hand, remains unmoved with its decision on not giving Manhunt 2 a rating, making the game still unreleasable in the European countries.

i'll just have to get the holland version and hope it has an english installation option, that or learn dutch lol
