GeCube HD 2900 Pro on the Way

After hearing yesterday that HIS has launched its Radeon HD 2900 Pro graphics card, it now seems that GeCube is doing the same. Although there is no page on GeCube's website about the new graphics card yet, numerous European stores are listing a GeCube Radeon 2900 Pro 512MB card for pre-order, with prices varying from €226 - €231 ($313 - $320 US). Presumably the specs will be similar to those of the HIS model, with 320 unified shader processors at 600MHz and 512MB of GDDR3 memory at 1600MHz. However, over at X-bit labs they're speculating that it might use a 256-bit memory bus width compared to the 512-bit of the HIS offering, although nothing has been confirmed yet and it's more likely than not that both of the cards would have the same bus width. AMD is still yet to comment over the HD 2900 Pro, although undoubtedly it'll have to give an official announcement soon given that manufactures have already starting listing the card.

I want too.

But why would Gecube cut the bus in half and charge 30 to 100 dollars more?

They probably haven't, I expect X-bit labs are wrong on that. But the extra price is because it's in Europe and we get much higher taxes and higher prices in general on things like that.

So the 2900 Pro looks to have a 256-bit memory bush at best, and a single power connector at worst.
And all this for 250$? The 8800 GTS 320 could still win, as the R600 sucks.

No, I think it will probably have 512-bit memory bus because that's what HIS list the specs of their card as being.

Wow, this statement is really, really dumb. The R600 owns the 8800 320. If you don't believe me go and buy yourself both cards and tell me which one is better then.

LoL!

Imagine that, an 8800 owner saying the R600 sucks! :wtf:

I definitely like nVIDIA but the R600 deserves a bit more credit than a dumb arse like you calling it "sucks".... :slap:

I just noticed that Ebuyer made two changes, that I was able to tell, to the HD 2000 Series section.
They added the dual GPU 2600 XT from Gecube, which is now instock! YAY!

And they also added the PowerColour 2900 Pro, which is cheaper than the above

If it still continues at that price, I think I might pick up a Pro. But from what you linked at OcUK, seems they're already trying to push the price up, although OcUK usually charges a little more.

I'd be surprised if it was EU only, or EU first, but I checked Newegg, and only found 2600s and 2900s around.
