Newegg Deems X850XT PE a Collectors Item, Sells Them For $625USD

With the release of powerful new cards from both ATI and NVIDIA, it seems we have all forgotten about the classic X8x0 series of video cards from ATI. It gave the old NVIDIA 7800 series of cards a run for their money, and gave people the most value for several years to come. Thankfully, famous American online retailer Newegg has not forgotten the wonderful X850XT. To show their appreciation for this noble video card, Newegg is pricing their last two at a price fit for a king: $625.10 + shipping. These open box HIS X850XT PE's are clocked at 540/1180 MHz, come with a whopping sixteen ROP's, and have 256MB of 256-bit GDDR3. Anyone hoping to get a piece of true PC history had better hurry up, as they will most likely sell like hotcakes at such a competitive price point.

I have a still running flawlessly ATI x850pro AGP that I modded to a full 16 pipe, full speed XT PE (Bios Flashed of course), slapped an AC cooler on it (silencer 5 rv.2 I believe). It only cost me $115 or $120 from that ATI Clearance a year ago! And $20 for the cooler. LoL!

That card is still probably my favorite for just how much tuning, tweaking and OC-ing it would allow. I'm looking forward to replacing my current x1950pro with a 2900pro (I knew they'd release it, just not as soon as I had hoped).

i wouldn't pay that much for something like that history doesn't mean that much to me. If i was going to pay $600 for a video card i would get a 8800GTX and get a C2D.

The reason I bought the card was due to the craze a year ago with the Clearance sale and the possibility of flashing a 12 pipe 850pro to a 16 pipe 850xtpe, I couldn't pass it up. One of the requirements for a successful flash was to have the Vivo chip and yellow plug (or rage theater chip...can't really recall anymore). I lucked out with getting the vivo version and having one that wasn't laser cut on-die! Woot!

That card is in my G/F's PC and she uses it for gaming regularly. It still does a great job! :toast:

Godly...

I bought mine this past December, it's just an X800gto. Was hoping for a 16 pipe, but I ended up with an x800Pro core. If any of you with an AGP version want to pawn yours off on me, I might pay a fair price for one, since I'm upgrading to an Am2-AGP mobo here in a couple of days.
