OLPC Laptop gets Tested

Many techPowerUp! readers will be aware of the One Laptop Per Child project, which aims to provide $100 laptops to children in developing countries. David Pogue from The New York Times has managed to get his hands on one of these laptops and given it a thorough testing, and the overall verdict is that the laptop is very impressive. Pogue praises features such as the sunlight-readable screen, the cheap and long-lasting battery and the WiFi mesh capability, as well as being impressed by how well the applications on the machine work. The laptop even survives a few drop and spill tests, which can be watched alongside the article on The New York Times' website. It is well worth reading if you are interested by the project - if you want to know more about it, visit the OLPC website.

"give one, get one"

So let me get this... I spend $400, and I "get one"... and then I have to trust that the company that has failed to deliver every promise it made in the past, will, at SOME UNKNOWN POINT IN THE FUTURE "give one" (not necessarily a new one) to somebody somewhere.

I do hope the audit commission gets all over this.

Well, the laptops are probably running a little slower now due to the cookies from the porn sites that the kids had visited.
