AMD Will Not Release R700 Micro-Architecture Until 2009
AMD recently unveiled plans to put out R680, RV635 and RV620 chips, which would power high-end, mid-range and budget cards, respectively. While this is all well and good, AMD said that the anticipated R700 series of graphics chips would not be put out until at least 2009. This decision will hopefully give AMD a chance to return to profitability. The long wait for a new graphics family will also give AMD more time to ensure that they're putting out a high-quality product that will dominate the market. During the event that this was discovered at, AMD also put out some details of the upcoming Leo platform. For more about the Leo platform, please check the source link.

IF AMD/ATi can get out a good programmed card with regular drivers at least once a month and has support for games and good crossfire then it could be a good card, i mean it beats nvidia in specs but it dosnt really work out that way in the real world.
ANYONE think that ATi is turning into 3Dfx because at the end they had cards that had to rely on cpu speed and they didnt have T&L which gave them so bad performance that and they kept delaying cards to the point the competition had already got new stuff out.
Whats with the multi die graphics cards anyway all we need is a really powerful card not a last years just redone oh look last years wasnt performing so good ah lets just plug a few together = 3dfx.

No delays
We got a confirmation that R7xx generation is on schedule for 2008 and it won't be shifted to 2009 as many journalist believes. Many journos made the assumption based on Mario Rivas presentation at Investor days.
Mario was talking about Leo platform and showed the slide with Leo platform that has R7xx based scheduled for 2009.
According to current plans R7xx parts in a platform are scheduled for 2009. This doesn’t mean that the discrete products will be late, but at least today it looks that ATI can delved them on time, at least at some point of 2008.
but heres hopin for ATi ................ because without them ( even all the nvidia fanboys ) have to agree nvidia will rape us if they become a monopoly ........ and its a fact looking at their track record ( good products but EVIL ppl making them ).
I was talking to a mate and he sez samsung are interested in amd/ati for the ati hd chips for their tvs etc.
Who knows if ATI will victoriously rise to the top, but I fear for the worst.
