Microsoft to distribute PC games through Steam-like system
Microsoft and Exent Technologies signed a deal that makes MS games on the PC available via the EXEtender platform. Apparently, instead of downloading the entire game first like Valve's Steam platform, Exent's system literally streams the game through your broadband connection and requires only 5-10% of the game downloaded at one time. Like Steam, EXEtender is its own computer environment, so you just have to install the main application and the games are simply data files. Let's hope this system isn't as a pain in the ass as Steam.
