Mram! Fram!

Samsung are planning the future with 5.4 trillion won (currency converter here :D ) worth of research and development spending this year and the future is magnetic RAM (MRAM?) and ferroelectric RAM (FRAM?).

MRAM, unlike dynamic random access memory (DRAM), will "keep their stored data after the power is switched off and provide faster computing speeds, while ferroelectric RAM chips have faster data processing speeds than flash memory and need less power" reports Reuters.

And just to make sure they stay on top of the market for the next ten years they also plan to introduce a liquid crystal display (LCD) with organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display technology. This will mean paper-thin displays, which consume less power. More details can be found at Samsung. They'll also cost 20 to 50% less to produce meaning such a display in your room won't burn a hole in your pocket. Now that is good news.
