DFI Changes X48-T3R PCB Layout

In order to further improve the soon released X48-T3R motherboard, DFI has changed the 2nd and 3rd PCIe slots position. In the first revision they were too near to each other, which prevented using three dual-slot air cooled video cards. DFI wll show the MP version with the new layout with ThermalRight heatpipe cooler at CeBIT.

Just like the 790X chipset, I wonder why they do not have 4 PCI-e slots. Anyways, this board is sweet!!! Crossfirx scales acceptably up to 3 GPU, 4 is kinda pointless as it yields almost no gains.

Looks like it's gonna be an awesome board! I like that you get a decent heatpipe cooler with it, but I don't like the IHS on the northbridge. The 8-phase Digital PWM looks good!

When is it to be released?

I'll consider it for the 3x Crossfire alone. I hope all the PCI-e lanes are 16.

Wow, that is an awesome and feature rich board. I almost thought the NB was a proc for a second because of that IHS. :roll

On a side note, nice to see you supermod Infrared!!!!

Where is the NB cooler? Did they take it off to show the IHS? :/

That's not secretive to me... a heatpipe system with fins at the hottest parts. Efficent but not "secretive".
