NVIDIA ForceWare Beta 174.20 Released

The 174.20 beta of NVIDIA's ForceWare display driver has found its way onto the internet, although it is only available for the 32-bit version of Windows XP at the moment. It supports just about all GeForce 6, 7 and 8 series cards, along with the new 9600 GT, but there are no release notes so you'll have to find out any changes for yourself. The driver can be downloaded here.

Do I need the new drivers if I have a 8800gts 512? I am still directed to the last official release when I enter my info at the driver page at the Nvidia site.

Here are some User-Reviews that might be usefull:
Downloaded and installed without issue on my rig. Don't have any useful benchmark info to compare from last driver set I used (171.23) as I mainly play City of Heroes these days...Crysis IQ looked good and gameplay was smooth. I believe my F.E.A.R. benchmark score went up by a few FPS. Only change in control panel I noticed was in the game profiles section, "show only programs found on this computer" was selected by default. Sadly, the bug with Star Wars: Republic Commando (where the game crashes if bumpmapping is set to anything other than low) remains.
Installed these drivers and tested in Unreal Tournament III i was happy to see that i can now enable AA in this game, and i looks so good and plays smooth!
Looks like they finally fixed the texture problems that all the 169.xx series had with Call Of Duty 1 (opengl) where the wooden doors texture was corrupted on my 6800 GT, these work great in Cod 1 no fancy looking textures and good FPS.

Cod 4 seems to also get decent frame rates with these and no fancy textures either, but had 2 crashes when I was changing GFX settings, no crashes during normal game play so far.
Ran these with COD4, and everything went smooth. Got roughly a 4-5 FR increase over the 171.xxs. I didn't get any freezes in-game, either.

Keepers for me.
This drivers worked great! for me. All games run smooth.
Hmmm, installed these with no problem but COD4 crashed and then I got the BSOD which I haven't seen in a really long time, lol

I rebooted and tried again - same thing.

There is a 169.28 Beta on the site, I am using them and have been for 2 weeks and they give me a fraction more performance in 3D Mark 2006.

marsey99this driver bsod in cod4 for me almost instantly.
Same here.

I get bsods in COD4, America's Army and Medal of Honor Airborn.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS DRIVER, VERY UNSTABLE! Also, temperature is 2°C higher ( Idle ) then on 169.28!
