ASUS Launches World's Exclusive Onboard Dual HD3850 GPU Graphics Card

ASUS today also unveiled the world's first on-board dual HD3850 graphics card with the ASUS EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G. Equipped with two HD3850 GPUs, an astonishing 34% and 5% improvement in speeds can be achieved when compared to single-GPU solutions and two single-GPU Crossfire configured graphics cards respectively. The EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G also comes specially designed with dual fansinks for both GPUs - ensuring efficient heat dissipation for more stable operations. On top of all this, the ASUS EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G is equipped with a large onboard memory size of 1GB - designed to provide feature-rich DirectX 10 gaming and the best multimedia playback without any lagging at ultra-high resolutions and maximum quality settings.

Unparalleled Performance with Just One Card
As the world's first on-board dual HD3850 graphical solution, the ASUS EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G is able to elevate 3DMark06 scores from 9883 to 13250 - an astonishing 34% speed improvement when compared to single-GPU solutions. Even comparing the EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G with two single-GPU graphics cards in a Crossfire configuration, the 3DMark06 score can still be boosted from 12585 to 13250, which is 5% faster. Gamers can now truly feel the exhilarating rush of extreme gaming performance only with the ASUS EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G.

1GB GDDR3 Onboard Memory for the Best Graphics
Memory size is paramount if one does not want to suffer from graphic bottlenecks. With most current and upcoming games requiring high video memory requirements; plus the fact that game developers are constantly increasing the estimated video memory size, the ASUS EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G is able to truly deliver a world-class graphical performance - allowing users to fully enjoy games or movies without lag or stuttering even at ultra high resolutions and maximum quality settings.

Unprecedented Rock Solid Quality from ASUS
In line with the Rock Solid promise of quality from ASUS, the EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G comes with several solutions to provide top quality graphic performance. With the EMI shield, 3~10dB EMI Interference can be reduced to provide stable signals, the temperature of the newly adopted DIP Spring Chokes is 5~10°C lower in comparison to traditional Toroidal Coil Chokes; while the Japan-made polymer capacitors lowers power loss to provide more stability. Users will thus feel at ease while enjoying extreme performance with ASUS' uncompromising quality only with the ASUS EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G.

Exclusive ASUS GamerOSD for Versatile Graphics Usage
The ASUS EAH3850X2/HTDI/1G is also equipped with the exclusive ASUS GamerOSD that unleashes the true power of ASUS' VGA cards. This feature is able to deliver GPU overclocking from onscreen displays during gameplay - allowing users real-time performance upgrades when they require it. Additionally, it also provides users with the option to record live gaming action or live broadcasting over the Internet with ease.

Thats a good assesment by Asus.. No one else was making the mid end cards with two cores on one card.. That should sell out pretty well in my opinion..

Looks like a good card, and a worthy investment for Asus. If it's priced around $250.00 this would be the card to buy. The  thing about this video card is, you can buy a mobo with one pci ex. slot, and run this baby in crossfire, and its cheaper than buying a crossfire mobo. I would like to see someone review this card.

This sounds like an underclocked 3870x2?
If so and if the price is decent, this will probably be able to reach 3870x2 performance! The cooling certainly looks capable of overclocking :)
Cool!

Breath of fresh air.

^That's how I wanted the HD3870 X2 TOP (the one with the 4 DVI ports) to look like. 13250 in 3DM '06 makes it a cut-throat competitor to the 9800 GTX.

Don't have to sweat it mate, it shouldn't cost over ~US $320 with the HD3870 X2 already as low as $399.

Nice, this thing could fly off shelves if priced right. But how it is 5% faster than two 3850's in Crossfire when the specs are identical? I would expect identical performance, maybe even slightly worse performance since both cores have to share a PCI-E slot.

And I thought the bandwidth of a PCI-E 1.1 x16 slot would suffice for a 9800 GX2 ?

dude its for quad chip crossfire, which in turn could be cheaper than 2 individual boards.

I said maybe. I expect identical performance. But if not identical then slightly worse for the reason stated. And yes, PCI-E 1.1 x16 is enough for a 9800 GX2.

It has nothing to do with Quad Crossfire. I'm talking about this statement:
Equipped with two HD3850 GPUs, an astonishing 34% and 5% improvement in speeds can be achieved when compared to single-GPU solutions and two single-GPU Crossfire configured graphics cards respectively.
They are comparing this card to a single 3650 and dual 3650's in Crossfire and saying this card outperforms two 3650's in Crossfire. I wan't to know why that is.

And the reason being that two GPU's are having to share a PCI-E 1.1 x16 slot (in other words the bandwidth of 16 PCI-E 1.1 lanes) which would suffice for two G92 GPU's ?

Well, at least no one can argue that the dual-670 design is memory limited anymore. :P

Looks about right the HIS and PowerColor X2's are around £250 +/- so a price point of £180-£200 or less even would be good......well very good lol, i hope it works out that way as the G/F's got her car now its time for me too up grade a bit. I ve been building wish list for a few months .

Cheers

Because not everyone knows about these or the 3870x2. Or someone might want slightly less performance. Bleh, who knows why youd buy this over the other. Thing is, this is sweet and Id be willing to pony up for one if its under 299

Yes, that would be my reasoning IF the card was slower, but since it isn't we don't have to worry about it because the bandwidth is obviously not an issue with this card.
